Sirikittong make one topic for the pictures please they get spread out all over the place to much.... we dont need 2 airforce or 2 army picture topics.... just keep everything together. TOPICS MERGED Jia-Kenmin Nov 17 2005, 12:29 AM lol, I've mentioned the purchase of the JAS Gripen before. Yes, I'm extremely overjoyed, and my equally military enthusiastic friends grow green with envy (since their nations operate F-16s or some obsolete Soviet fighters). I hope the co-operation and close relations between my proud nations of Sweden and Thailand continue. The Swedish pride, JAS Gripen, will serve Thailand well, and may the wings of this Norse Dragon protect the holy lands of Muang Thai and uphold the honor, tradition and freedom for the Thais, and may the "oh-my-God...run-you-asses!!111"-Maverick missle firepower smash our enemies to hell. Chai Yo. Må Thailand bevara sin stolthet and visa sin styrka med det Svenska flygvapnet.

I heard a news from the Royal Thai Airforce about Su-30 MK will be a new Squadron. Actually, the RTA prefer American fighter to Russia Fighter. But the government need to use a bater trade more than hard currency. At last they come up with 18 Su-30 MK. The Glorious Kingdom of Thailand will be UNMATCHED in south east asia with our new fighters. I talked to my uncle, Colonel Sanjavit Sirikittong, who serves in the Royal Army, couple of days ago (he came to the US to visit my parents), it apprears the the military is in joy at our approval of the GRIPEN. The Gripen's performance is superior and is a a generation or two higher than that of the F-16, the f-15 and can outrun, out peform and OBLITERATE any of the Sukhoi 29 or the Sukhoi 30 mkkks that Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam has. LOL! The Gripen equals and surpases the F-18A, considering Malaysia (our main aerial threat) only has a limited amount, and considering the RTAF (Royal Thai Air Force) has plans to aquire a god 2-3 squadrons of Gripens, LOL, no one will challenge us in the air or the ground. Once AGAIN THE ROYAL THAI AIR FORCE HOLDS AERIAL SUPERIORITY IN SOUTH EAST ASIA!!!!! Now I cant wait for our SUBS!!! lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHAI YO !!!!!!!!!!! Sirikittong Nov 17 2005, 09:44 AM QUOTE(JediKnight @ Nov 17 2005, 06:58 AM) I heard a news from the Royal Thai Airforce about Su-30 MK will be a new Squadron. Thailand is actually considering the Su 30 mkk, as our defense minister visited Russia in past events on this issue. Thailand is, getting the su-30, as far as I remember, however, the su-30 will be placed in attrition reserve (it will be a last line defense fighter, as is the F-5es) The first line defense for the Royal Thai Air Force will be the Gripen and supporting it in aerial bombadment will be our F-16s. @ Jedi, although we do prefer F-style fighters, AMERICAN planes are WAY TOO expensive for us. Personally, I am impressed by our F-16s, but I think it is time for Thailand to try out other fighters, such as the Gripen and reluctantly the new SU-30. It is well established that we have the strongest air force in south east asia; now I just want Thailand to build up our submarine fleet. Or better yet...become a nuclear POWER lol damn non-nuclear proliferation pact! Why did we sign it?!?!?!?! a very good SAM will shut down a Gripen... Sirikittong Nov 17 2005, 12:27 PM A squadron or two of Gripens assisted by 3 air divisions (26 suadrons) of F-16s will obliterate an enemy nation's SAM defenses. lol. Our soon to be aquiared 3 squadrons of Gripens will cleave any enemy air defense guards.

we dont need SAM anyway.... but if all hell will break loose from thailand, then SAMs will be more cheaper and easier to acquire than buying new planes.... bwahahahah... we filipinos can the innovative... like having ground troops serving decoy and firing SAMs on RTA,,, but our PAF got many flying coffins like our elite squadron the blue diamonds and as we know, coffins can be made of wood... and there is no fu-king way, our flying coffins can detected by thai radars... then our pilots in the flying coffins will fire SAMs and have the RTA squadrons under heavy rain of SAMs from the x and y axis.... and by the way, we got mini ICBMs developed by AFP during marcos' time codenamed bongbong..lol i dont know where the hell are those right now..... Chinese DesertFox Nov 17 2005, 01:49 PM I thought the negotiations for the Gripens were still underway. Nung1 Nov 17 2005, 03:08 PM

true true!!! americans left many military weapons somewhere hidden in clark... and it was a very close secret as what i have heard... it was also being rumored that americans left a nucleur weapon facility hidden somewhere in central luzon.... and now being maintained by AFP in secrecy.... you know most filipinos dont want nuclear facilities(even nuclear power plant) in their country.... so technically speaking, we are a nuclear power.... Jia-Kenmin Nov 18 2005, 03:20 AM ^Yeah, ESPECIALLY with JAS Gripens. The Swedish military might, technology and firepower have now entered the realm of Siam, and now the RTAF is invincible. An iron wall now blocks the Thai airspace, and it will take all the Southeast Asian nation efforts together to shoot down ONE Gripen. Only American firepower is competent enough to put up a stiff challenge, but otherwise nothing will stop it. A dogfight simulation with our neighbor the Norwegians, which operate F-16s, proved no match to the Swedish JAS Gripen. We, the Swedish, are leading manufacturers of sea stealth technology, and I hope that Thailand will consider aquiring Swedish stealth ships and subs as well soon. I have a feeling that Thailand will soon make that wise choice, and rule the seas. The Red Baron Nov 18 2005, 02:29 PM QUOTE(Sirikittong @ Nov 17 2005, 11:48 PM) lolz you filipinos make me laugh. remember guys, we are the masters of jungle guerrila warfare... just ask the japanese.... our AFP got many secrets aside from unexplained wealth of our generals... Ren wuying Nov 18 2005, 04:20 PM chinese army>>>>>thai army JediKnight Nov 18 2005, 06:54 PM Sirikithong, Gripen is a defensive fighter. The others nation in ASEAN have more an offensive fighter, Vietnam has a squadron of Su-30 MK. Burma will buy a new Mig-29s (Actually, it was our money to buy Natural Gas from them and they used it to buy a weapon). The Air power is not balance if we have only a defensive fighter. The Royal Thai Air force reviewed the situation and they need a new heavy fighter like Su-30 MK. I think the Gripen will be next procurement. The priority is an offensive aircraft. I don't have any concern on Vietnam or Malaysia. Because there have very low chance to have a conflict with them. But burma is difference. We have a lot of war with them in history. And there have very easy to have a conflict. Because our border is close together.

Monday, December 19, 2005. Issue 3319. Page 7. Thailand Inks Deal for 12 Fighters By Lyuba Pronina Staff Writer Irkut Bangkok is wrapping up its first-ever arms deal with Russia, which includes a dozen Sukhoi-30 fighter jets. Russia has signed a preliminary agreement to sell $500 million worth of military aircraft to Thailand in what would be the first such deal with the traditional U.S. arms client. "We signed a memorandum for 12 Sukhoi-30MKMs during President Vladimir Putin's visit [last week] to Malaysia," a senior official at Irkut, the privately controlled maker of the Sukhoi fighter, said Friday. Putin was in Malaysia for a summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Thailand originally agreed to buy the jets last year but put off the deal after a tsunami that killed hundreds of thousands of people hit the region last December. The Irkut executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of negotiations, said the memorandum of understanding also included delivery of helicopters to Thailand. "We have gone half the distance and expect to sign the contract in the first half of next year," said Alexei Fyodorov, Irkut board chairman. "This is good news for Russia, we haven't sold a single cartridge to Thailand," said Konstantin Makiyenko, deputy head of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies. "It also means that Russia has taken over the region -- we have fighter jets in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and now Thailand." Makiyenko estimated that the deal would bring Russia at least $500 million. Rosoboronexport, the state arms sales agency, was not available for comment Friday. ******************************************** Did they found the iraqi's WMD? Axis of Evil VS A55e5 of Evil.

yokie Dec 18 2005, 09:10 PM Decision on fighter jets is still up in the air By Martin Petty 14 December 2005 17:17 The air force yesterday said it had yet to decide whether to buy Russian or American fighter jets to replace its aging fleet, amid allegations of shady dealings by its former chief, ACM Kongsak Wanthana, now interior minister. An aide to air force commander-in-chief ACM Chalit Pukpasuk said the procurement committee had yet to make up its mind whether it would buy Russian SU-30s or F-16s from the United States, because the issue was complex and further assessment needed to

be made. “This still has not been settled and is still under consideration,” the aide said on the condition of anonymity. “It could take time. We have no idea how long.” The official said technology was constantly changing, so the air force needed to be sure it was buying the right jets. “We have to look at this thoroughly because things are always changing or being upgraded,” he said. “There are a number of aspects we have to look at before we make a decision.” The issue was thrust into the spotlight Friday when staunch government critic Sondhi Limthongkul alleged that pilot-turned-politician ACM Kongsak wanted to switch the agent involved in a 35-billion-baht deal with a Russian firm to buy 12 SU-30s – and said he would pull out of the deal if his demand was not met. Sondhi said ACM Kongsak’s preferred choice of agent, Eagle Thai Co, headed by Ekachai Thammavaranukupt, would receive a 10-percent commission, rather than the usual three percent. The Democrat party said the agent’s 3.5-billion-baht cut was “enormously high” and demanded a probe into the affair, while ACM Kongsak denied any wrongdoing. ACM Kongsak, a close personal friend of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s, has been widely criticized ever since he was given a Cabinet post in March this year. Confusion has surrounded the proposed fighter deal ever since the air force announced it would replace its 30-year-old fleet of F5 jets, which have few flight hours left. Late September, ACM Chalit announced that Thailand was interested in a barter trade deal for 16 US F-16 C/Ds worth 20 billion baht. He said the jets were in excellent condition and Thaksin had discussed the deal with US defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld on his visit to Thailand in August. However, Russian firm Irkut had a day earlier announced it was “99-percent sure” that Thailand would buy between 12 and 18 of its SU-30 MK jets. Sondhi alleged that an air force procurement committee had decided against the SU-30 because they were unsuitable and unsustainable, but ACM Kongsak was still keen on securing the Russian jets in return for chickens. The air force has in the past been riddled with graft allegations. ACM Raden Puengphak is currently being investigated by the National Counter Corruption Commission for his part in a shady 998-million-baht helicopter repair deal in 2000. – Additional reporting by Chayanuch Thananart Interesting information regarding the Jet they are buying from the Russia. Up until last

What do you mean slower....Su-30 hold world records for speed and maneuverability. Of course, F-16 and F-15 have been combat proven, at bombing defenseless Iraqis and Milosevic's army and shooting down Iranian F-4....but so does the Rafale, Eurotyphoon and Gripen. Sirikittong Aug 27 2006, 10:19 AM JIA!!!!!!!!!!! ITS FINALIZED!!!!!!!!!! I just talked to my uncle today, RTAF is DEFINATELY purchasing the Grippens by this year!! THE ROYAL THAI AIR FORCE SHALL REIGN SUPREME IN THE REGION!!

Good bye to our F-5 Tiger IIs! ++++++Swedish Fighter Aircraft Proposal Made Public The Swedish proposal to the Thai government regarding purchase of Swedish Gripen Fighter Aircraft was revealed at a press conference in Bangkok. By Frank Jensen At a press conference at the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok, Lars Danielsson, Deputy Minister to the Swedish Prime Minister, informed that the proposal given to the Thai Government in November by the Swedish government concerned the purchase of 12 JAS-39 C/D Gripen fighter aircrafts, two Airborne Early Warning System (AEW) mounted on SAAB 340 aircraft and another SAAB 340 made for air/ground crew training purposes. “This proposal is suited exactly to the needs of the Thai Royal Air Force. The proposal represents the cutting edge technology of today and also for the future. When you modernise you expect it to last for 30 – 40 years and these systems are developed in a way that they can be changed continuously. For years to come the systems will be

upgraded,” Lars Danielsson says. Should the Thai government choose the Swedish proposal, not a single Baht or Swedish Krona will be paid. In an effort to spare the trade balance, in 2004 Prime Minister Thaksin suggested a barter notion meaning that in stead of money the Thai government will provide products like rice, chicken and seafood in exchange for the fighter aircrafts. Sweden has accepted the barter notion and according to the Swedish barter model the entire world will be approached in order to sell the products. Not only Sweden has accepted the barter notion. Also Russia and USA have agreed to the conditions trying to sell their aircrafts. Asked what advantage the Swedish proposal has over the others Lars Danielsson says: “I am not in the business of comparison. I can only say that the most modern equipment in the airspace area is used in our proposal and that the Gripen has already proven it’s worth through it’s merits.”Today the Gripen is delivered to air forces of Sweden, South African and the Czech Republic and soon the Hungarian Air Force will follow. The price of the Swedish proposal has not been made public. Created 2006-01-12 Copyright © 2002 All Rights Reserved. Major Thai-U.S. air, ground, naval and Marine forces train together in one of the largest military exercises in the Pacific - COBRA GOLD 99.

One of the largest military exercises in the Asia-Pacific region takes place annually in Thailand. Called exercise COBRA GOLD, the 18th in the series recently took place in May 1999. This annual Thai-U.S. field training exercise is designed to strengthen the ability of the Royal Thai Armed Forces to defend Thailand and ensure regional peace. It is also designed to share military skills and increase interoperability between the two armed forces. Ambassador Richard Hecklinger, the U.S. ambassador to Thailand, stated that "COBRA GOLD is the most visible and concrete demonstration of our commitment to Thailand's security and to the region."

US Army troops receive training in Thai style offensive kicks as part of Thai hand-to-hand combat training.

Approximately 24,000 troops took part, in COBRA GOLD 99 with about half provided by each country. Both countries provided army, navy, air force and Marine forces that trained with their counterparts in a variety of exercise scenarios. Exercise scenarios included joint/combined land and air operations, and combined naval, amphibious, and special operations. In addition, combined Thai-U.S. medical and civil affairs teams carried out projects in the countryside to help the people of Thailand.

Combined Thai-U.S. operations were the key to COBRA GOLD 99. The two countries' military staffs were integrated (combined) for various exercise operations, and the various services were also integrated into joint forces and staffs. Some were both joint and combined. For example, when Royal Thai Air Force F-16s flew with US Marine Corps F/A-18s, they were directed by a Combined Air Operations Center staffed by US Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps aviation personnel working alongside Royal Thai Air Force personnel.

Participating US forces included forward-deployed Marines from the Okinawa, Japan-based 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force which conducted amphibious operations alongside the Royal Thai Marines. Soldiers of the Hawaii-based 25th Infantry Division (Light), US Army Special Forces, and elements of the US Army Reserve operated with the Royal Thai Army and Special Forces in a 13-day ground combat scenario in the Korat area of Thailand. Combat aircraft of the Guam-based 13th Air Force, augmented by aircraft from Air Combat Command and Air Mobility Command, operated with combat aircraft of the US Navy and Marine Corps to conduct exercise air operations with the Royal Thai Air Force and Navy. To complete the close coordination, US Navy ships operated with Royal Thai Navy ships in a simulated sea battle.

Thai-U.S. Forces: Training Together --Continued--

U.S. Armed Forces, for all of their technology, benefit every year from the jungle warfare training they receive in COBRA GOLD from the Royal Thai Armed Forces. For example, in Thai Army jungle survival training, American troops learn how to cope with the 22 kinds of poisonous snakes and five types of poisonous spiders in the Southeast Asian jungles. COBRA GOLD not only trains allied forces, but also builds new friendships and cements old ones between armed forces that have shared decades of close relations.

The alliance between the U.S. and Thailand is an old one. As Ambassador Hecklinger explained it, "Thirty years ago, American fighter-bombers thundered off the runways in northeast -Thailand in defense of freedom and as part of our commitment to defend Thailand from aggression. Today, Thai pilots, trained in the U.S., fly American-built F-16s. Those pilots and this air base [Korat] symbolize our continually developing relationship."
