Happy New Year! This month our members will be asked to fill out a survey of all club operations. This is an annual survey that your club leadership uses to track member perceptions and areas for improvement. You should receive this survey during the second week in January and we hope you will take the time to let us know how we are performing.
In December, we recognized Ron Harbert, Charles Leeks, and Walter Angel for 25 years of service at Sawgrass Country Club. I felt privi-leged to present this recognition to these three long-term employees, who are consistently among our top performing staff members. Ron has been a Beach Club bartender while Charles and Walter have
worked primarily in the golf course maintenance department since the late 1980s. We have been fortunate to witness such dedication as a club and I am proud to work with them all.
Also in December we recognized Tony Scarpitti from Golf Operations as our “Employee of the Year” for Sawgrass Country Club. Tony has been with us for the past three years and was pro-moted last year to our Golf Shop Merchandiser. Although this selection is not easy, Tony exemplifies professionalism among our members and staff and consistently sets a very high standard some clubs will never realize. Congratulations Tony! We are very proud of you.

How can you become more involved in Sawgrass Country Club?
Sawgrass Country Club is owned and operated by its members for the enjoyment of the members. The Leadership Development Committee (LDC) has been working hard this year to recruit and develop members of our club for volunteer roles on our commit-tees and on our Board of Governors. Our committee system needs members to help bring ideas, develop club policies, address issues and other important aspects of the club. The committee system is also where our Board of Governors learn about club business before they become Board members. There is no better way to become involved than joining a committee.
If interested, please complete the volunteer form that can be found under the club information tab on the club website at www.saw-grasscountryclub.com or pick one up at the Golf Clubhouse admin-istration desk. Other ways to get involved include being an active participant in club events, filling out comment cards and surveys, providing constructive feedback to your managers, and letting com-mittee representatives or chairs know about your concerns or ideas.
This winter we will be providing some Saturday fun-time entertain-ment on the Oasis Deck when weather permits. So, be ready for cocktailing and entertainment every Saturday afternoon when the temperature is at least 70 degrees and the sun is shining.

Congratulations to the Sawgrass Country Club Team......for their victory over TPC Sawgrass in this year’s Sawgrass Cup. This was a pivotal year as both clubs have shared the cup evenly over the last decade. The event included two hard– fought days, one at the TPC Stadium Course and the other on the East–West Course, and was highlighted by a Hole In One by Sawgrass CC team member Jim Dowdee on 3 West. After two wonderful tests of golf, the home team came out victorious by a slim two–point margin (40–38). Thank you to the TPC Sawgrass team for the great competition and camaraderie over the weekend. Great playing TEAM SAWGRASS!

This tournament will also attract great players from out of state in the open and age divisions as it is one of only four tournaments in Florida that will count towards the national ranking in 2015. We hope you support this tournament either by playing or spectating. This is the second year Sawgrass has had the opportunity to be the host site.
