Happy New Year from the Officers and Brethren of Fort Crook Lodge #250. We will have a busy January and February

practicing for our upcoming 2nd Degree for Brother Brown. The Degree will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 1pm. Brother Brown has been working very hard on his 1st Degree proficiency which will be delivered just prior to being passed to the Degree of fellow craft. As always, all fellow craft and Master Masons in the area are invited to witness his passing. Sadly, our Senior Warden, Brother George Whitfield lost his wife of many years, our thoughts and prayers go out to him, RIP Sherry. Two other Brothers also passed away, Worshipful Ray Williams PM and Wor-shipful Alfred Stephens PM, Almighty Father into Thy hands we com-mend the souls of our beloved Brothers. Our annual lunch in Adin and annual picnic at the McArthur Inter-mountain Fairgrounds are in the works, dates TBA. Worshipful Fred Ur-banek PM will be receiving his Golden Veterans award at the picnic. Soon, we will be presenting the very rare Diamond Jubilee award to Brother John McArthur - that’s 75 years in Masonry, folks! Congratulations to Brother John. Other events in the works are a get-together with our Masonic Wid-ows, our recognition of our local educators, law enforcement and mili-tary, and a public information open house. Dates TBA. That’s all for now!

Brethren, Studying the Ritual of the Blue Lodge

Degrees is a fascinating and enriching endeavor. To quote “Manual of Freemasonry” by Richard Carlile, “…the ‘mystery’ of Freemasonry consists of this: … that man is a creature to be improved by cultivation; that knowledge of things is the source of improvement; and that time is the material to be properly used to that end; [and] labour the means of application….” Our first Fellowship Discussion will dwell somewhat on the first degree obligation, its clauses, and how we are bound by it. In his book, Foreign Countries, author Carl Claudy states: “As the obligations put knowledge within a man’s heart which was not there before, they are symbols of wisdom. As they lay duties upon a man’s heart which were not his before, they are symbols of Masonic responsibility. As they give a man relations with other men he never knew before, they are symbols of mutuality. As they demand from him a compliance and a submission not required of him before, they are symbols of obedience. And as they are uplifting, inspiring, unselfish, sublime, they are symbols of spirituality, of man’s yearning for God and humility before Him.” It is my hope with the help of the Brethren that our Fellowship discussions will enlighten us all as to the lessons and philosophy set forth in the Three Degrees of Blue Lodge Masonry and how “Good Men” can take these ideas and become

Brethren, Monday night practices for the first section have been deemed not necessary and therefore have been can-celed. We will still be having second section practices on Thursdays at 6pm. Also the Master has posted a mes-sage on the lodge app that tomorrow nights Masonic Education Night has for unforeseen circumstances has cancelled. I hope to see all cast members at Thursdays practice.

“Better Men” who may then have the opportunity to apply these ideals in their daily endeavors; thus, en-abling them to enlighten our community, our County, our State and our Country. This I suggest to you is how Freemasonry takes “Good Men” and gives them the opportunity to become “Better Men”. I look forward to seeing you all at our Stated Meeting in February and our Fellowship discussion on February 19th.

Hey There! Hello Sisters and Brothers, Our Chapter has been dark for December and Jan-uary but we are gearing up and ready to get busy. Speaking of busy, Trinity Star has been having a Sock Drive for our local Elementary Schools. I am thrilled with the outpouring of generosity from so many. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! We are continuing our Sock Drive through March 1, 2019. During this time of year with snow, rain and the general elements, socks are in need at our elementary schools, the school nurse distributes them to children as needed. Brethren, I would like to thank all those that

helped with the Installation. We couldn’t have such a lovely evening without your contributions. The consolidation is now complete, so let’s push up our sleeves and get to work. January will be busy with three examinations due to be completed which will create Degree opportu-nities. Hopefully we will have a Second Degree on Thursday, February 21st at 7:30pm followed by a Third Degree on Wednesday, March 20th. We will confirm these dates at the Stated Meeting. One shot Tomasini will be donating and cooking the food, elk stew with all the trimmings, for the February Stated meeting on Thursday, February 7th. All proceeds to be donated to the Scholarship Fund. Ladies and chil-dren eat free. Please plan on bringing your family. The Science Fair will again happen at Turtle Bay El-ementary school. Please call if you can help. We will be inviting other Lodges to assist us, so that they can see what we do, and then expand the program to Shasta and Trinity counties. We have a busy, exciting year ahead. Looking for-ward to all that we can accomplish together. Stay safe and see you soon.

February is here! and we start right out with our regular meeting on the first. We will again have a 6pm dinner ($8). I hope you are enjoying our dinner gath-ering prior to each meeting. We had a good crowd in January. Hope to see more of you in February. February 1st will be our Valentines meeting. Again, this year we would like to deliver valentines to our Vets at the Veterans home. We will have valentines avail-able during the dinner time to fill out for this purpose. Don’t forget!!! February 16 is our AMI (All Mem-bers Instructional) in Los Molinos. It begins at 9:00am and will last until about 3:30pm. The dress is business casual, which means slacks can be worn, but no jeans, please. I hope you can all attend. It is a fun day and a great opportunity to meet and visit with not only our Grand Officers, but members from our district and maybe some from other districts. There will be a break out time for the officers to meet with their Grand Officer. A lunch will be available for those who choose to take part for a $10 charge. Our Chapter has the opportunity to provide the lunch for all attending. As this is a fund raiser for our Chapter, we will need volunteers to help with serving and clean up. Please let me know if you need a ride or if you have room in your car for others. We want to make sure everybody has transportation. Happy birthday and anniversary to those who cel-ebrate in February. We’ll see you on February 1st, and please RSVP for the dinner.

A Valentine with all the affectionis being sent in your direction!

Happy Valentines Day.

Sisters & Brothers:

Hope you all are enjoying the winter wonderland

as much as I am (oops forgot I live in Shastina). But it

is so nice to see the mountain covered in snow. Christ-

mas is behind us and we do hope everyone had great

holidays and is ready for the events that we will have

coming up in the next couple of months.

May will bring the McCloud Mushroom Festival

and the Flea Market and we hopefully will take our

burger booth to these events. Please plan on help-

ing for a few hours as many hands make the load a lot

lighter.

We will be having a double affiliation at our next

meeting so do plan on joining us February 14th as we

celebrate Valentines Day, the story of "Adah" and wel-

coming our new members. Dinner is at 6 pm.

Thanks to the ladies that helped at the 131st Instal-

lation of Officers on January 19th and a special thanks

to Sister Donna Sartor for chairing the event. Well

done ladies!

We are sending get well wishes to Sisters Lin Stanton,

Sandy Nyback-Smith, Josie Johnson, Lyda Teasley,

Bonnie Martin and Brother Bill Martin. Hope you are

all doing better.

Welcome Redding #17Order of the Eastern Star

Redding, California

Happy New Year! It is never too late to wish everyone a prosperous, healthy and

happy year ahead! We are responsible for our own happiness and good health, to a degree, but good wishes carry some weight, too! Welcome-Redding Chapter is off to a very good start for 2019 with some new events scheduled and enthusiasm for the traditional ones. Our corps of of-ficers has pledged to get our members into the mood with fun and helpful ideas for the meetings and out-side activities. We are all challenged to make this a fun-filled year with community involvement and crowded meetings! WILL YOU HELP US MEET THE CHALLENGE? Work has already begun on the Holiday Bazaar for the coming late fall, and the PortPal-a-Palooza Parties are to start up again on January 22nd. More dates will be announced. This is an open participation bunch who want to help folks who are undergoing any infusion treatments around our communities. This is fun and so great for getting our involvement renown around the country. The Membership Chairman this year is J J Jensen, our Associate Matron. She is quite a cheerleader and will be contacting many of our members who have not been able to attend for a while, encouraging them to keep in touch and inviting them to use our own “Uber” service (a free ride to/from meetings or events)! Our February meeting will start at 7:00 on the 12th, and we will have a Cherry Pie dessert after the meet-ing for the Valentine fellowship. Sounds very good to me! Let’s dress up the meeting by wearing as much red as possible for all the sweethearts present! The Grand Chapter officers will put on an Instruc-tional for all officers (and members) on the 16th of February in Los Molinos. There will be plenty of transportation going to this fun and well-presented get-together. If you are inter-ested, just contact any of the officers of any chapter in the region. It is really worth your time! Lunch will

be served for a reasonable $10.00 ticket…good deal all around! We are so happy to hear that Sister Susan Sechrist is improving daily with her health issues and will be back with us in the near future. We send good wishes to Brother Loyal Taylor who is recovering from with vision issues ‘over the hill’. The Taylors are such and integral part of our Chapter life and we miss them very much. The members of Welcome-Redding are enjoying the fellowship of many visiting members, who help us with their attendance. Special ‘THANX’ go out to Le-nore Grant and Louise Linton, who step up whenever they are asked! A very special event coming up is the presenta-tion of 75-year pins to Sisters Lenore and Betty Marx, both of of Northern Lights Chapter #14. This will be on March 9th, at the Redding Masonic Family Center. More details TBA. It has been suggested that our Chapter start put-ting together an “Order of the Eating Sisters’ Cook-book.” This project will be in conjunction with the Holiday Bazaar. If you have a favorite, special, deli-cious recipe to share, we would appreciate it. Just e-mail or snail-mail the recipe to [email protected] and we will share with the committee that will get it “published” You don’t have to be a members of just our chapter, ANY OES member will be included! Happy Birthday to all the Aquarius and Pisces celebrants and Happy Anniversary wishes to those who were married during the ‘Month of Love’ and Valentines! Red hearts will fill the world , at least for February! Next month we will talk of the Traveling Gavel and it’s story!
