Greetings,

What a fantastic month we had in October! We continue to understand why God has led us to build a

new worship center as He adds weekly to our congregation. The average number of worshippers that

God brought to Grover every Sunday in October dramatically increased with 67 more people attending

than last year. For the month of October we averaged 430 people in attendance which is up 16% from

the 364 we were blessed with last year. Notice on page 11 of the Newsletter how much our attendances

has risen for the last 10 weeks. The Lord also added a number of new members to our church family in

the last several weeks: Linda Herdman, Vivian Baugh, Rachel Snow, Nate and Aleasha Bancroft, Jeffry

Medwin, and Yvonne Bostick. Praise God!

Speaking of our new worship center, you have probably noticed a number of things happening on our

work site here at the church. The power company has been relocating transformers, the electricians have

been running power conduits and wire, Kramer construction has placed a silt fence around part of the

work perimeter for environmental control and run-off, the surveyors are marking boundaries, and the

civil engineers are here with their bull dozers and other earth moving equipment. For your own safety,

please do not enter the work site area or allow your children to run loose in the parking lot where they

might be tempted to explore that area. Children on Wednesday nights who attend WNL will be walked

over to the Children’s Building at 6:10 p.m. What a tremendous sacrifice our church is making in their

weekly offerings to our Building for Life Campaign. As of the end of the month, we have received

$221,373.64 into our Building Fund. If you have questions as a newer member about how you could

participate in our New Building project, give us a call. We would love to tell you more about our vision.

Our Fall Festival and Children’s Carnival are this Saturday, October

31st. This fun event is for both adults and children. The adults will be hav-

ing their Chili, Soup and Pie Cook-Off in the Family Life Center at 6:00

p.m. I am looking forward to seeing all of the favorite recipes that will be

coming to this year’s contest. The kids will be meeting downstairs in The

Park at 5:00 p.m. for the Children’s Carnival. There will be food, candy, face

painting, games, fun, pumpkin painting, and activities. It is always one of Grover’s best times of fellow-

ship together as a church. Please have your food at the Family Life Center by 5:15 p.m.

Christmas Preparations: The Christmas Chorale is busy preparing for their musical in

December and trying to manage some of the practical challenges that have come up this

year with having a much larger group of people singing on stage. We actually need two

additional sets of risers. They cost several hundred dollars apiece, so please make that a

matter of prayer. If you have any questions, call Dave Robinson or myself and we can

share more information with you. We continue to gear up for our Living Nativity

scheduled for December 11-12th. We still need about 20 more people to stand in as

characters for our nativity. Even if you could participate just one night, that would be be

a huge help. We supply the costumes. All you would need to do is come one or both

of those evenings and stand in your place during the Drive-Thru Living Nativity. No

acting is required. Just a few movements for some of the characters. What a great way to prepare your

own heart for Christmas this year. Call the office to sign up. (660) 747-7196.

Speaking of Christmas, it is not too late to pick up your shoe boxes for Operation Christ-

mas Child. Instructions for preparing the boxes are inside the box you will pick up. They

are due back to the church during the week of November 16-23. Be sure to indicate the

gender of the child and any donation you may wish to include.

Pray for our Yearly Associational Meeting for the West Central Baptist Association which will take place

this year at First Baptist Church in Clinton on November 9th at 7:00 p.m. A covered dish meal will take

place at 5:30 p.m. and there will be numerous exhibits to see prior to the event. A War Room for prayer

will be available all day and there will be a special reception following the meeting. I will be making sev-

eral presentations and will be elected moderator for 2017.

On Wednesday night November 18, we will be having our Annual Church

Business Meeting at 6:30 p.m. It is during this meeting that our church votes

on its new leadership position for the 2016 year as well as the new budg-

et. Various reports are also presented from certain key committees and organi-

zations in our church. The meeting will be preceded by our regular family sup-

per in the Family Life Center at 5:30 p.m.

Plan now to attend our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on November 25th at

5:30 p.m. at the Warrensburg High School. This event is so well attended that

we have it now at the High School Commons area. This is a covered dish meal

for which the turkey, drinks, and tableware are provided, so we need everyone to

bring 1-2 covered dishes of food for everyone to share. Please try to bring your

dishes of food as early as 5:00 p.m. if you are able.

Pray for me as I will be the Master of Ceremonies for the New Beginnings Banquet coming up this week

on November 5th at the University Ballroom. We appreciate so many from our church participating in

the event from year to year.

The Christmas Chorale presentation is becoming more real eve-

ry week. The selection of solo parts, special ensemble parts, and

drama parts are nearly complete, and the excitement continues to build for our presentation of “All the

Difference in the World” the weekend of December 5-6. This project is a large time and effort commit-

ment for everyone involved. Is it worth it??

One way to formulate an answer to the question, “Is it worth it??”, would be to think in man’s perspective

and explore the values of those involved in the presentation as well as those viewing the presentation. We

all have values. We also show how much we value each of them by how much time, effort, and money we

put into them. Following this train of thought, the questions I would encourage each of us to answer are

these: Do the things that fill up my calendar reflect what I value most? Is my whole heart in the things

that fill up my calendar? Do my financial commitments reflect what I value most? If we can answer yes to

the three questions above, then the answer to, “Is it worth it??”, is YES!! We value evangelism, we put our

whole hearts into the preparation of the presentation, and we support it with paid staff and budgeted re-

sources.

Yet another way to formulate an answer to the question, “Is it worth it??”, would be to try and think in

terms of God’s perspective. What does God value? He showed us what he values in the ten command-

ments and then was asked in Matthew 22:36 (NIV)… 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the

Law?”37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38

This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the

Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

To further try and attain God’s perspective, we can look at the Great Commission in Matthew

28:16-20 (NIV)16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them

to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and

said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of

all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teach-

ing them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of

the age.”

No matter whether we’re answering, “Is it worth it??” with man’s or God’s

perspective, I think GPBC is on track to answer a resounding YES!! Our

mission statement, “To Know Christ and Make Him Known” is the driving

force behind all of our time commitments, passion, and budgeting. I en-

courage each of you to not only attend the Chorale presentation, “All the

Difference in the World”, but for you to invite at least one person to attend

with you for at least one of the three performances (Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7pm

or Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3pm or 7pm). Make plans now and display your per-

spective and priorities.

“I Really Felt At Home There”

It is a joy to feed and shepherd the people of God. This past Sunday I had the

privilege of meeting a young airmen who was visiting Grover Park for the first

time. He shared with me that he had actually been stationed here for over three

years, but has not yet really clicked into a church. I asked him how he found

out about Grover and he shared that one of our church members (a generation

older than he) who is very kind, invited him to the service. The fact that he was personally invited by someone

stood out to him. I was able to exchange cell phone information with him so to better follow up after the ser-

vice. After the service I shared with him how glad I was to meet him and that I would love to get together some-

time to share more about what we believe as ‘Parkies’ and just to get to know him better.

His response was so neat, I just want to quote for you here, “Thank you, the church was so inviting, I really felt

at home there. I had no idea of what to expect, but it was pretty incredible.” How cool is that? A young man in

his twenties, felt incredibly welcomed by a church family that I dare say has an average age slightly higher than

23. I think there is a lot we can learn from this young man’s story. First, we can learn to invite people to wor-

ship with us that may not seem to have a lot in common with us. Praise God for the boldness of the one that

invited him. What a great example for us all! Second, we can and must reach out to everyone around us. This

means taking on a ‘host’ mindset and being the one to walk across the room, give a warm handshake, share a

little about yourself, find out how someone is doing, and praise God for their presence. Third, the time before

the worship service, is a great way to explore the sanctuary and introduce yourself to someone you don’t yet

know on a first name basis. Forth, a simple follow up text, call, or even a comment at the end of the service can

mean a lot more than you will ever know. You have the power to make someone really feel at home as you live

out and speak out with the Gospel both in our worship services and in our Sunday School classes. Honored to

be a Parkie!

When & Why? November 13th-15th We will be partnering with several Christian youth

groups from the community & surrounding counties to dive into Scripture together,

laugh together, eat together, worship together and discuss the power of God’s grace, love,

and glory. We will be staying in the homes of Grover Park Baptist Church members bro-

ken down by age & gender with 3 background approved adult Christian leaders.

How do I sign up my 6th-12th grade student?

There is a signup sheet right in the front door of The Park youth area that contains shirt

sizes and student contact information. In addition to this basic sign up, your student will need to have an updat-

ed medical release form for the 2015 calendar year available in The Park. The cost for Grover students is $20

per person, but there are scholarships available as needed. Checks can be made to “Grover Park Baptist

Church”. Note that shirts can only be guaranteed to those that register by November 1st. Though we would pre-

fer your student stay for the entire weekend, if they should have to leave for a portion, please send a signed note

for Brent so everything can be communicated smoothly for their transition home and or back to the group.

What Should I bring?

Bring a sleeping bag/blanket and pillow, toiletries, towel, modest clothing, a Bible, a pen, a snack to share, and a

huge smile. Students can bring their phones and mp3 players, but there will be restricted times for use and the

student will be responsible for what they bring. If you have any questions about anything call Brent Bullard @

The Women’s Ministry has decided to change the season of our weekend retreat to fall

so put Sept 9-11, 2016 on your calendar, at LifeChange Camp and we will get

to enjoy the fall colors and the swimming pool!

Once a month (second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.) The GPBC Women’s

Ministry Council prepares a meal for the students at the Baptist Student

Union. This Month we will be hosting this wonderful event November 10th, and we

will be serving Soups (3 kinds) Salad and Desserts. If you are able to help

out in anyway and to share in this wonderful outreach to our College Students,

“It doesn’t matter if people are civilized and educated, for if they are uncivilized and uneducated. I must tell the good news to everyone.” - Romans 1:14-15

Paul talks about being a debtor to the nations. He literally says “I am in debt to Jews and Gentiles.”

The language is profound. Paul is saying that he owes a debt to every lost person on the face of the planet. Because he is owned by Christ he owes Christ to the world as is all of our debt to pay because we profess that we love Him. The tragedy is that a majority of us that are supposedly saved from eternal damnation

by the gospel are now sitting back and making excuses for not sharing the gospel with the rest of the world. As we have said many times you can share with providing

Christmas Child Boxes. Our goal for this year is 125 boxes. We are running low on boxes and after attempting to find more I am finding out that they are just not available.

Samaritan’s purse is encouraging us to use our shoe boxes for purchases plastic shoe boxes to pack the items for children in. They say we can wrap then, wrapping the box

separately from the lid, enabling them to check the items in the box.

I will transport the boxes to the Central pick up area on November 18th. I am asking that everyone please have your boxes at church by the 18th

in order to keep all the boxes together. Last year we only packed 90 boxes. Our goal for this year is 35 more boxes but at present time we are

going to surpass that number big time.

November 29th will be our annual “Parade of Flags”. This is a time where we honor all the areas of the world that has been reached with the gospel. The children will be carrying the flags up the center aisle as Pastor Randy reads the countries that have been given the truth.

This also kicks of our “Lottie Moon” Christmas Offering. Our giving enables Missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches

among the unreached people and places for the glory of God. The Week of Prayer is November 29 - December 6th, 2015. This is a

week where we pray for international missionaries who take the gospel to people in cities and extreme place. November 29th the focus will be Lesotho, for God’s glory to be revealed to the Basotho people. November 30, Central Asia, for the “Water of Life”, clean drinking water and open the hearts of Muslims to our Father's love. December 1 South Asia, for the Hindus to hear that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. December 2, Syrian Refugees will find hope in Jesus. December 3, that the gospel reaches the unreached in Southeast Asia. December 4, that the unreached people in Oaxaca, Mexico will hear the truth. December 5, that the next gen-eration in the Philippines will believe and share the truth. December 6, that all the children of our father will pray for the billions that haven’t heard will hear and believe. There is a great article in the December issue of

“Mission Mosaic” entitled “Because of who He is” that covers this week in detail.

Sunday School Teachers and members, you will find brown paper bags in your rooms on November 22. These bags are for the “Christmas Store”. We have done this mission project for many years.

You will have two weeks to fill the bags for collect money for foods to be given to those in need in our community. The bags will need to be completed by December 6th. We are still in need of actors, seamstresses, prayer warriors, folks to help with the “Living Nativity” on the courthouse Lawn December 5. We also need help setting up December 10th and December 11th. If you can help in any way please contact

the church office. This is a great gift to the community and it takes many servants to make it happen. God Bless all that are willing to give and serve.

TEACHING MOMENT:

Teaching thankfulness and appreciation is an important concept for kids and adults to comprehend. A great place in the bible that talks about thankfulness is in,

Luke 17:11-19,where Jesus heals 10 leapers on His way to Jerusalem.

In these verses Jesus heals all 10 of the

people's skin but only one comes back

to say thank you. Jesus not only heals This man's skin but his heart too.

Explain to your child that God has giv-en us so many gifts to be thankful for.

We can be thankful for Jesus, who died

on the cross for our sins. Our hearts can be very sick without Him! We need

Jesus to heal our hearts and forgive us!

I am thankful that He has the power to do that! We can also be thankful for

good health, food to eat, our church,

etc! Lets remember to thank God to-day, like the one man did in Luke.

watch as the kids in the nursery begin to really understand the concept of being thankful. At this age they really begin to

understand that there are people in their life that love and care about them and want to provide their needs. Isn't it amazing what an

example that is of how God is. God loves us, cares, for us, and wants to provide for our needs. He does this to an even greater degree than

we can even comprehend sometimes. Wow God! You're amazing.

nursery or teaching Sunday School. We appreciate Dee Anna's continued service in the nursery. Dee Anna is always there and willing to help care for our little ones. Dee Anna takes time to do activities

Hey Guys,

Happy Independence Day! Independence Day is always a fun time

for families to celebrate together. As you approach

Independence Day, are you busy thinking about where your

family will go, how many fireworks you will buy, or whose

celebration you will attend? Many things can grab for our time, but Jesus constantly reminds us in the Scriptures to focus on Him. We celebrate our Independence as a nation, an Independence that was sought after when our forefathers were faced with the reality of spiritual oppression. They would form a nation where

anybody could worship Jesus as King! Sometimes we

forget that we have the freedom to worship and instruct our kids

in the way of the Lord. We have been given so many very

wonderful freedoms, let us use them to point our kids to the

merciful arms of the Savior who loves each of us without

reservation and without favoritism. A great way to “spark”

and “ignite” wonderful conversations about being free to

worship Jesus, is by checking out Freedom Spectacular.

November is here and we are so thankful to be able to minister to you and your

family during this season. We know life can get busy; howev-er, we also know that we have so many reasons to praise our Risen King during this holiday season. If you would like more information on some of Grover Kids Ministry opportunities please let Mark know today!

Hey Guys, October is always a fun month in Kids Church! This last month we had 30 kids dressed up as Super Heroes for Super Hero Day. It was such a fun time. We learned how each super hero falls sort, even Iron Man! So people keep making sequels because there is always the “what happens next…” Jesus is the ultimate super hero! He finished what He started. He lived a sinless life. He died on the cross for our sins. He rose from the dead! Jesus is the best super hero ever. In November, we will continue to look at how our choices affect the influence we have here on hearth. We will look at how there is no room for pride, when we understand all that God has done for us. A special shout out to Mrs. Kim Nicas for her incredible work with the Fall Family Harvest coming this Saturday. In Novem-ber, we look forward to a season of thankfulness and blessing. Many of us will be busy getting ready for December and all that happens during that time of year. I am so grateful for our many supportive families!
