Before getting started

Turn cell phones to silent!

Our lab assistants are: Kevin Smedley Greg Shaffer Randy Brunette

Some questions: How many currently use AutoCAD® Electrical? How many are using the schematic tools? How many are using the panel tools?

Class Summary

In this lab you will take an AutoCAD® Electrically smart schematic control system design and create the AutoCAD® Electrical smart panel. You will:• Extract the information from the schematic drawing to create the panel drawing• See how to utilize the reporting functionality by extracting the information from the

newly created panel drawing

You will do all this with tools available in a typical installation of AutoCAD® Electrical!

Learning Objectives

At the end of this class, you will be able to: Add a table and catalog data to the default_cat.mdb file Create a custom panel symbol (Footprint) Add an entry to the footprint_lookup.mdb file

Add part number to the panel database

Create a panel drawing from the electrical smart schematic drawing Execute bi-directional updates between schematic and panel layout Run panel reports

Add a table and catalog data to the default_cat.mdb file

RMB on IM-T-9A symbol and select Edit Component. Select the Lookup button in the Catalog Data area:

Add catalog information to the ZS newly created table:

Create a custom panel symbol (footprint):

Open "Operator Station Layout.dwg" and type “wblock” at the command line Name the file "Interface Module.dwg"

Navigate to “Libs/Panel” folder: Create subfolder called “Banner”

An example would be:C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Acade 2012\Libs\Panel\BANNER\Interface Module.dwg

Add an entry to the footprint_lookup.mdb file:

Use Footprint Database File Editor: Create table named BANNER:

Add record “IM*” & Browse for file and location:

Autodesk University Session Feedback

Your feedback is very important to Autodesk

Attendees can complete session survey on their mobile device, PC or at a survey station

Each session survey completed will be entered for a daily drawing for a free AU 2012 pass.

You can help make AU 2012 better!

Complete the AU Conference Survey at a survey station and receive an AU 2011 T-Shirt
