Metadata describes data and helps you organize content, in this case questions. Tag questions with metadata to help you retrieve questions later. You can add the following types of metadata:

• Category

• Topic

• Levels of Difficulty

• Keywords

You can create the metadata values and assign a specific value to a question during question creation or by editing an existing question.

There are four overall steps in creating a test by searching pools and assessments:

1. Build the test.

2. Specify the question settings.

3. Find and add questions.

4. Assign point values.

Best Practice: Use Surveys Often

• Survey current knowledge at the beginning of your course.

• Ask questions about students’ approach to uncertainty and risk to allow them to demonstrate their analytical thinking.

• Use surveys to discover the muddiest point—the least clear concept in the lecture.

• Ask students to rate how challenging they found a lecture or module.
