The Arkansas Activities Association announced the selections for the Wendy’s Football and Cheer High School Players of the Year Awards for the 2015-2016 school year.

Senior quarterback Leonard Snell of Nashville is the Football Player of the Year. Senior Ryleigh Feemster of Parkers Chapel is the Cheer Player of the Year.

This is the third year for the Wendy’s Player of the Year Awards. A total of 23 athletes will be selected from the sports of golf, tennis, volleyball, cross country, dance, cheer, football, swimming, wrestling, bowling, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer and track. Each winner will be recognized at the Wendy’s Day of Champions luncheon at the Holiday Inn Presidential Hotel in downtown Little Rock on Wednes-day, June 1, 2016.

Coaches and school administrators are eligible to make nominations for these awards throughout the school year.

Snell led Nashville to the Class 4A state football championship and a 15-0 record. He set a championship game record with six rushing touchdowns, which came from 5, 35, 5, 7, 14 and 34 yards.

During the season Snell had 226 rushes for 1,904 yards and 27 touch-downs. He averaged 8.4 yards per rush and 126.9 yards per game. He connected on 110 of 230 passes for 1,869 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Snell also set two Nashville school records this season against Watson Chapel – rushing yards (362) and total yards (571).

Feemster is the second straight senior from Parkers Chapel to win this award. A year ago the same honor went to Caitlyn Graven.

Feemster has been a Parkers Chapel cheerleader since the seventh grade. She was named captain of the squad this year. She has been named B2 All-American Cheerleader for the past four years and recently performed in the Liberty Bowl’s halftime show.

Feemster led her squad to two first place wins this year and an overall Grand Champion of the senior division of the El Dorado Cheer Invita-tional.
