Who is this qualification for?This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to become a paediatric first aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. Learners gaining this qualification will know that first aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment.

Topics within this qualification meet the requirements for Paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 as being important to maintaining safe and effective practice when providing treatment of injuries and ill health of infants and children who are under the care of trained personnel.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This is a 3 credit qualification, with a guided learning hour’s value of 22 and it has a minimum contact time of 12 hours, which is typically delivered via a 2 day course.

Who is this qualification for?The QNUK Level 3 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF) qualification has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid when dealing with an emergency situation whilst undertaking activities, such as sports, swimming, hiking, rock climbing etc. Topics covered.During this 2 day course, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, head and spinal injuries, abdominal injuries, external bleeding, anaphylaxis, secondary survey, fractures, sprains and strains, dislocation, seizure, drowning, minor injuries, heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, diabetes, asthma, hypo and hyperthermia, bites & stings, anaphylactic shock and more. • Practical observationCandidates are required to demonstrate an ability to provide first aid to a range of casualties as they would in an emergency situation, therefore, candidates will need to be able to work on the floor; for example, as with CPR. Who is this qualification for?This qualification is designed to provide learners with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace.

The qualification provides learners with an understanding of the responsibilities and employers and employees, the benefits of good health and safety, steps to a risk assessment, common causes of and how to reduce accidents, near misses and ill-health, typical hazards and controls in the workplace, emergency procedures and the importance of recording accidents, near misses and ill-health occurrences.

Who is this qualification for?This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to take further training or to develop their knowledge and/or skills in this subject area. It is recommended for first-aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival. The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important in maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation.

The qualification means learners should be able to safely and effectively use an automated external defibrillation machine. In line with industry guidance, after 3 years it is recommended that they sit the course again.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This qualification is usually achieved by taking a half-day classroom-based course with a minimum contact time of 4 hours. There is no specific age restrictions for this qualification. Centres are to assess the suitability of learners, ensuring that they are able to effectively perform CPR prior to registration

Learners gaining this qualification will know that supervisors and managers have legal and moral obligations to ensure health and safety within a business and that this includes obligations to employees, contractors, visitors and suppliers. Its subject areas are regarded by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as being important for developing safe working procedures in the workplace.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? The qualification is usually obtained by taking a 5-day classroom-based. However, it can also be achieved through a variety of other methods including blended and distance learning.

How is the qualification assessed? This qualification is assessed in two parts: Part 1: Externally set and marked activities. Learners are expected to undertake the following activities:• Undertake a risk assessment• Construct a safe system of workPart 2: A 3-hour written examination that contains a case study of a fictional business which outlines its current health and safety standards, policies and procedures.

Learners must successfully complete both parts to achieve the qualification. However, marks from part 2 will be used to determine the learners grade. Learners will achieve a Pass at 60%, a Merit at 70% and a Distinction at 80%.

Who is this qualification for?The Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering is a qualification aimed at managers working in a food or drink catering environment. The qualification is intended for learners already working in catering, or those who are preparing to work in the industry, and whose job requires them to have some responsibility for food safety. Learners are likely to have management responsibilities for an operational team.

This qualification covers the subject of food hygiene at a suitable depth to ensure learners have a thorough knowledge of hazards and controls; its focus is on the importance of developing, implementing and monitoring food safety procedures. Its topics are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food. How long will it take?This qualification is usually obtained by taking a 5 day classroom-based course. Assessment methodThis qualification is assessed through a 2-part examination.

Part one is a 30-question multiple-choice examination.

Part two is a written examination where learners choose 4 from 6 questions, totalling to a possible 70 marks.

Successful learners must achieve a total of at least 60

marks out of 100 across the two parts of the exam. A Merit will be awarded at 70/100 and a Distinction will be awarded at 80/100. The duration of the examination is 2 ½ hours.

The objective of the qualification is to support a role in the workplace. Who is this qualification for?The Level 3 Award in Effective Auditing and Inspection Skills qualification is a National Award written and accredited by HABC. It is aimed at supervisors, team leaders and line managers working in all sectors of the food industry, consumer products, hospitals and other industries where verification, auditing or inspection is undertaken.

Learners who gain this qualification will know and be able to apply the knowledge relating to the role of the auditor in carrying out effective audits or inspections. Who is this qualification for?The Level 2 HACCP qualifications provide individuals with the knowledge they need to understand the principles of HACCP, in particular how to identify and control hazards, how to monitor controls and what action to take when critical limits are breached. They will also appreciate how their role can affect food safety and how they can contribute to the HACCP system and product safety.

This qualification will enable individuals to understand the importance of implementing a food safety management system, based on the Codex HACCP principles, in a catering / manufacturing environment. They will learn their role in ensuring the effective operation of the HACCP system and gain the knowledge to identify, control and monitor hazards at points critical to food safety within their business.
