Who is this qualification for?This qualification is ideal for those already working, or preparing to work, within industry who wish to become an Emergency First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Subjects covered include Incident Management, Dealing with Shock, Dealing with an Unconscious Casualty, CPR and Minor Injuries. How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This qualification is typically delivered on a one-day training course. Please ask your HABC training centre about their method of delivery. How is the qualification assessed? This qualification is assessed via practical demonstration and oral questioning.

All successful students will be issued with an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate which lasts for a period of 3 years, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their qualifications. Our 1 day course fully complies with the HSE Minimum Training Standard for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. This qualification is suitable for learners over the age of 16.

Who is this qualification for?This qualification is ideal for those already working, or preparing to work, within industry who wish to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Subjects covered include Incident Management, Casualty Head to Toe Survey, CPR, Minor Injuries, Major Illnesses, Head and Chest Injuries, Suspected Spinal Injuries, Burns and Scalds and Sudden Poisoning. How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This qualification is typically achieved through a 3-day class-room based training course and for requalification this is reduced to 2-days. Please contact us for further details. How is the qualification assessed? The qualification is assessed via practical demonstration and oral questioning.

Who is this qualification for?This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to become a paediatric first aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. Learners gaining this qualification will know that first aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment.

Topics within this qualification meet the requirements for Paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 as being important to maintaining safe and effective practice when providing treatment of injuries and ill health of infants and children who are under the care of trained personnel.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This is a 3 credit qualification, with a guided learning hour’s value of 22 and it has a minimum contact time of 12 hours, which is typically delivered via a 2 day course.

Who is this qualification for?The QNUK Level 3 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF) qualification has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid when dealing with an emergency situation whilst undertaking activities, such as sports, swimming, hiking, rock climbing etc. Topics covered.During this 2 day course, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, head and spinal injuries, abdominal injuries, external bleeding, anaphylaxis, secondary survey, fractures, sprains and strains, dislocation, seizure, drowning, minor injuries, heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, diabetes, asthma, hypo and hyperthermia, bites & stings, anaphylactic shock and more. How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This course is delivered over 2 days. How is the qualification assessed? Candidates are assessed for this qualification using the following methods:

• Multiple-choice question paperEach candidate will be assessed for this qualification by the completion of a multiple-choice question paper. Candidates will be required to score a minimum of 70% correct answers to achieve a pass.

• Practical observationCandidates are required to demonstrate an ability to provide first aid to a range of casualties as they would in an emergency situation, therefore, candidates will need to be able to work on the floor; for example, as with CPR. All successful learners will receive a QNUK Level 3 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF) certificate detailing their qualification which is valid for a period of 3 years.

Who is this qualification for?This qualification is designed to provide learners with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace.

The qualification provides learners with an understanding of the responsibilities and employers and employees, the benefits of good health and safety, steps to a risk assessment, common causes of and how to reduce accidents, near misses and ill-health, typical hazards and controls in the workplace, emergency procedures and the importance of recording accidents, near misses and ill-health occurrences.

The qualification can be taken as a stand-alone or as part of a wider programme of training, it is suitable for learners aged 14+ and has one mandatory unit to complete.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This qualification is usually achieved by taking a one-day classroom-based course, however, it can also be achieved through a variety of other methods including blended, distance and e-learning.

How is the qualification assessed? It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the learner must answer at least 12 out of 20 questions correctly. The examination will take a maximum of 45 minutes to complete.

Who is this qualification for?This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to take further training or to develop their knowledge and/or skills in this subject area. It is recommended for first-aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival. The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important in maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation.

The qualification means learners should be able to safely and effectively use an automated external defibrillation machine. In line with industry guidance, after 3 years it is recommended that they sit the course again.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This qualification is usually achieved by taking a half-day classroom-based course with a minimum contact time of 4 hours. There is no specific age restrictions for this qualification. Centres are to assess the suitability of learners, ensuring that they are able to effectively perform CPR prior to registration

How is the qualification assessed? This qualification is assessed by practical assessment and written/oral questioning in line with all other HABC first aid qualifications.

Who is this qualification for?This qualification is aimed at supervisors and managers with a direct responsibility for health and safety management. The qualification is intended for learners already working in the capacity of supervisor or manager and those who are preparing to start work at this level.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that supervisors and managers have legal and moral obligations to ensure health and safety within a business and that this includes obligations to employees, contractors, visitors and suppliers. Its subject areas are regarded by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as being important for developing safe working procedures in the workplace.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? The qualification is usually obtained by taking a 5-day classroom-based. However, it can also be achieved through a variety of other methods including blended and distance learning.

How is the qualification assessed? This qualification is assessed in two parts: Part 1: Externally set and marked activities. Learners are expected to undertake the following activities:• Undertake a risk assessment• Construct a safe system of workPart 2: A 3-hour written examination that contains a case study of a fictional business which outlines its current health and safety standards, policies and procedures.

Learners must successfully complete both parts to achieve the qualification. However, marks from part 2 will be used to determine the learners grade. Learners will achieve a Pass at 60%, a Merit at 70% and a Distinction at 80%.

Who is this qualification for?The Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering is a qualification aimed at managers working in a food or drink catering environment.
