Chitrakoota is the headquarters of the trust and it is in Hariharapura, on thebank of holy river Tunga . This place is near Shringeri, the holy place whereSri Jagadguru Shankaracharya performed tapas. (Sadhana)

PRABODHINI GURUKULAA lot of discussion is going on in the country about the system of education

prevailing in the country. The main reason is that, there is education in our countrybut there is no Bharathiyata in it. How can we build an ideal Bharatha withoutBharathiya features in our system of education? Bharatha cannot hold her headhigh without real Bharatiya citizens in it. Therefore priority is given in the Gurukulato bring in Bharatiya features and this is only the first step. Education based onspirituality is being imparted to students. It is based on the ancient Gurukula system.

AIMSEstablishing a healthy society in this country.Education is for bringing out the inner strength hidden in our young boys.Encouraging a sense of nationality and patriotic feelings amongst young boys.Education for the all round development of the personality.(mind, reasoning and spirituality)Self study, self thinking, self descipline and self dependence.Good conduct is the result of a role-model.

ProgrammesEvery year 15-20 boys who are in the age group of 10-11 years, are admitted.It is residential education for twelve years.Gurukula imparts a five pronged (panchamukhi) system of education;Veda,Yoga, Bharathiya agriculture, Bharathiya science, Art and Music.Besides, education is imparted in the areas of Mathematics, Science,Cultural History and so on.Boys learn communication skills ( listening, speaking, reading, writing andreference work) in Kannada, Sanskrit, English and Hindi.Education, boarding, lodging and first aid are free to students.Boys are engaged in activities from 5.00 in the morning to 9.30 at night.

They begin the day's work with a prayer. This is followed by Yogasanas, cleaning,bath, Pooja, breakfast, self study and regular classes. They play games in theevening. They also work in the cowshed, garden and agriculture field. At night

they sing Bhajanas, chant Bhagavadgeeta, do meditation and engage in selfstudy. In this way, careful attention is paid to the all round development of ourstudents.

Children engage themselves in organizing Samskara Kendras in villages,teaching and conducting Balagokulas in schools, contacting people in about 20villages, preparing medicines and other things from cowdung and urine, treatingpeople with the help of Neurotherapy, Reikhi, Homeopathi and in a number of otherrural development activities. All these are done as Seva (service).

HIGHER EDUCATIONThe children are getting basic knowledge in all the fields of Panchamukhi

Shikshana within 5 years. After that they continue their higher studies which areonly meant for Agriculture and Yoga

As we know that Agriculture is the only source of food of mankind. It isapplicable to the present future and forever. In the scientific and technical ageAgriculture is neglected by the youth. To cultivate a good interest on this fieldwe introduced Agriculture for higher studies.

Yoga is given by the ancestors to the world. We had the golden time whenyoga is being imparted as life science and studied by everyone. Now the Yogabecame a Universal science and the entire world is looking forward at our nationto teach Yoga. It is the greatest need and responsibility to preserve and continueour Yoga culture. For this the youth had to take the great venture. By keeping thisin view we started higher education for our students. There is a facility to get degreefrom other universities.

ELIGIBILITYThe student who have completed five years of education in Gurukulam -

selected by the Acharyas on the basis of their interest and capability.

Students who have completed SSLC exam and who have the basic knowledgeof Sanskrit can apply and they are selected by interviews.

VEDASHIKSHA VARGA :The trust has been conducting free classes in Sanskrit, Yogasana, performing

Pooja, Bhajan, Bhagavadgeeta, Swimming and so on for a fortnight in the monthof April for boys of the age group between 13 to 14 since three decades.

PRABODHINI YOGA SHIKSHANA KENDRA :Yogasana and Pranayama classes are being conducted throughout the district,

for both Men and Women. Along with these activities, we have been imparting

personality development programmes for childern in our Shishumandiras andBalagokulas which are Samskara Kendras. Also cultural education is given to theladies through Matrumandalis.

Appreciation and Blessings Today a number of academic and educational experts have a strong desire

for a change for the better in the field of educaion in the country. A good numberof them visited our Gurukula and have expressed their great satisfaction over theeducation being imparted here. They have given suggestions for the improvementand blessed us.
