The Hillhead experience! In 1926 The Quarry Managers’ Journal mounted its first working exhibition of quarry plantand equipment in conjunction with the Institution of Quarry Managers Annual Conferenceat Llandrindod Wells in mid Wales. The show was deemed to be a great success and, 88years later, QMJ will be presenting the latest edition of the world’s biggest and bestworking quarry show at Hillhead Quarry near Buxton in England’s Pennine Hills from 2426June 2014.

The last show in 2012 continued with the tradition of providing an event experience that isunique to Hillhead:

• Rugged and dramatic setting

• Vast range of plant, equipment, materials and services for the quarrying, constructionand recycling industries

• Over 450 leading international exhibitors

• Largest excavator ever displayed in UK – 320 tonnes

• Three separate demonstration areas – quarry face, crushing and screening & recycling

• Over 75 machines on working demonstration duty

• 175 stands in indoor pavilions

Defying the recession, the show attracted a total of 16,765 visitors – an increase of 9% onthe previous event. Also, this total included 1,357 international visitors from no less than87 different countries of the world a new record.

The Hillhead formula of mixing the colour and scale of a large outdoor event with theattractions of plant and equipment doing a real job of work is a proven winner with visitorsfrom this sector. And, if you have something you want to promote to the construction andminerals industries, please feel free to call either me or one of the other members of theHillhead team to discuss the stand options available for 2014.
