You’re almost ready to start writing your story. But before you begin, it pays to think about how you’re going to handle the opening.
It’s very important to create a good opening to a story, if you want your reader to read on.
Writers use the opening of a story to:
grab the reader’s attention
give hints of the story to come
introduce the main characters
set the scene and the mood.
In the beginning… opening a story

Your turn…
Now it’s your turn to write the opening to your story. Remember that the opening should interest the reader enough to make him or her read on, so try to make sure your first paragraph, and especially your first sentence, is memorable.
Your opening should also tell the reader something about:
character setting mood plot genre.
