Brief HistoryWhite Plains Baptist Church was founded in 1965. At WPBC, we believe in the Baptist Faith and message. The church expanded its campus with the addition of the Family Life Center in 2005. The campus includes a chapel with a one-story educational wing and a Family Life Center. The two-story Family Life Center houses our sanctuary, Sunday School classrooms, two nurseries and a full kitchen. We also have a large playground, basketball court and an additional bus garage. White Plains Baptist Church also owns three adjacent properties.

With its rich tradition, excellent facilities, a current membership of 379, and a budget in excess of $300,000 annually, WPBC is well positioned to expand its ministries in Scottsville.

Our Campus

Scottsville, Kentucky is located in the south central area of Kentucky, 60 miles from Nashville, Tennessee and 30 miles outside of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The Allen County School System serves all of Allen County including the city of Scottsville, with approximately 3,000students currently enrolled. The school system reflects a progressive approach to education with its many modern advances in teaching and its beautifully designed architectural buildings.

Rural beauty, clean air, community values, excellent education systems, small government, Interstate Highway access, and a growing community with bountiful recreation opportunities. All these things define the excellent “Quality of Life” found in Scottsville and Allen County.

The campus is comprised of a one story educational and office wing and the original sanctuary. In 2005, the Family Life Center was added to the campus. Following that a playground, basketball court and bus garage were added.

• Minister to the church community through weekly sermons that challenge the people of White Plains to a deeper relationship with Christ. Plan weekly sermons that capture the essence of biblical vision.

• Able to relate to and serve the congregation well.

• Confident in what he teaches, and not afraid to challenge and inspire the congregation.

• Coordinate with the Worship Leader to plan appropriate worship music for the week's sermon.

• Expresses in a strong interest and emphasis on youth and children ministries.

• Officiates weddings & funerals.

• Perform baptisms, the cornerstone of the church's beliefs.

• Adhere to the Bible's teachings in both their personal lives and their professional ministries.

• Minister to the community through regular attendance to community activites such as, chamber meetings, school events, social gatherings, etc.

• Provide counsel and support to church members to ensure effective care of the physical and emotional needs of the people of White Plains.

• Provide counseling (pre-marital, bereavement, etc.) as needed.

• Visiting nursing homes, shut-ins, and hospitals through most effective means possible. Making emergency or crisis calls when necessary.

• Must encompass biblically directed qualities, such as compassion, kindness and empathy.

• Must be knowledgeable in the Bible and in prayerful communication with God.

• Daily Bible study and strong theological understanding in order to lead and teach the church.

• Lead and encourage others in study.

• Must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of scripture for worship and counsel.

• Lead by example and be a model challenging church members to follow biblical principles.

• Must represent moral virtures highlighted in the Bible such as: strength of character, love, caring,grace, and humility.

• Manage the business of the congregation and should be skilled in good planning, organization,delegation, and management of the day-to-day affairs of the congregation.

• Work alongside Deacons, church staff and other key leadership to carry out the missions and purposeof the church.

• Oversee all church discipline matters and the management of conflict issues in the church.

• Act as manager of paid/voluntary church staff.

Administrative Duties

• Gives evidence of a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrating the biblicalqualities of 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-5 with integrity, humility, responsibility, teachability, andservanthood as a gracious and loving pastor.

• We prefer candidates who are a Seminary Graduate or equivalent but is not required.

• Believes, accepts and supports White Plain's vision, mission, values and core beliefs.

• Senior Pastor experience preferred, but not required, depending on other pastoral experience.
