FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE JOURNAL IN THE CONTEXT OF GENESIS OF COMMUNICOLOGY

Dear readers! The release of the special issue of our journal devoted to ethno-cultural communi-

cation has been naturally determined. From the very outset, the editors were focusednot on publishing a scholastic set of articles, but on a consecutive, systematic andfundamental analysis of communication problems in different social spheres andhuman activity areas. As our readers might recall, the first issue of the journal was de-voted mainly to the development of various communications and the establishment ofcommunicology as a science, the second issue to theoretical and methodologicalfoundations of communicology, and the third to marketing communications.

The themes of all the issues up to the end of 2014, including the eighth issue, can be foundon the archive page of the website of the journal http://www.communicology.us. This websitealso contains all the materials of the issues, the reviewing and article formatting requirements, information of our partners, the library of the journal, the photos and other materials in Russianand English languages.

Theoretical and methodological research of the chief editor and the members of his sci-entific school laid down the basis for the journal. The findings of these works were publishedin the series of monographs of F.I. Sharkov: Communicology: Encyclopedic Reference Dic-tionary; Communicology: Basic Theory of Communication; Communicology: Sociology ofMass Communication; Communicology: Communication Consulting; Integrated communi-cations: Advertising, Public Relations, Branding; Integrated Communications: Legal Regu-lation in Advertising, Public Relations and Journalism; Integrated Communications: Masscommunication and Media Planning. On the author's suggestion, these modules of disciplineswere included as basic (mandatory) in the third-generation standard for bachelors in the fieldof Advertising and Public Relations by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

The activities of the chief editor and the head of scientific school at the World EconomicForums and the International Scientific and Practical Conferences made it possible to sharethe experience with the world's leading scientists involved in communicology research, aswell as to strengthen the status of communicology as the new interdisciplinary science. • INTRODUCTORY ARTICLE

    13

interdisciplinary scholar team was assembled and a scientific journal of the same name wascreated. The members of the Editorial Board are the leading communicologists of Russia andother countries. The creative team developed the concept of the journal in which theory andpractice fruitfully coexist, and both distinguished scientists and novice authors (students, postgraduate students, doctoral candidates) have the opportunity to publish their articles. Aspecial section Approbation: Publications of Applicants for Degrees was created for noviceauthors.

The journal consists of basic columns and special columns, dedicated to the theme issue, which merge in an integral information and communication space and allow to solve profes-sional problems productively and creatively. The Editorial Board is working hard to make ourjournal more interesting and informative. Besides the traditional printed version of the journal(ISSN 2311-3065 (print), the research papers are published in the electronic journal Com-municology, registered in Paris under a separate index ISSN 2311-3332 (online).

Studying different areas of communicology, the Editorial Board takes into account bothSoviet and post-Soviet research experience, as well as the experience of other countries.Under the heading Foreign Authors the materials in Russian, English and other languages arepublished, enabling the authors to convey to the reader the actual idea in their native lan-guage. I believe that our journal will open new horizons to its readers, contribute to their per-sonal and professional growth, and most importantly, will affect the quality of education ineach educational institution, in which it will come to be read. Apart from the articles of thejournal, there is a wide range of educational materials (textbooks, complexes, programs, courses) on various fields of communication disciplines in the library of the journal.

The journal will help us to establish partnership with readers, provide self-education andself-development of the teaching staff and will generalize their communicative experience.

I wish the journal and the authors to succeed in fundamental research and to upgrade thecommunication models and systems in all spheres of society with communication practices. The next issue will be dedicated to communications in the political sphere of society.
