I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me,
but you will see me, because I live and you will live.

Technology has played an important role in how we’ve stayed connected
with our parishioners! What are some of your favorite ways you’ve
used technology to share in the faith during this time?
This year marks the 5th anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato
Si: On Care for Our Common Home! He invites us to celebrate
Laudato Si Week from May 16-24. Visit www.LaudatoSiWeek.org for
more information.
“Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me.”
Jesus knew that after he ascended to heaven many would attempt to complicate his existence, mission and message. He was aware that from the time of Moses people tried to avoid or deny the nature of God and his simple command to love God and to love other as we love ourselves. He knew that if we can be convinced that love of God and others is complicated, we would get discouraged and give up. He anticipated that some would claim to have superior and exclusive knowledge of how to love God in order to gain control over the mind and lives of others. Jesus assured us that loving God by understanding and observing his commandments, and loving others, is not complicated, but it can be difficult. It requires that we do right, not just look right; do good, not just feel good. It means we must eliminate evil in our lives and challenge the evil in our world, our community, our work place, our home. That can be inconvenient, unpleasant and risky. And that takes love.

Catechism of the Catholic Church ~ Paragraph 1548
In the ecclesial service of the ordained minister, it is Christ himself who
is present to his Church as Head of his Body, Shepherd of his flock, high
priest of the redemptive sacrifice, Teacher of Truth. This is what the
Church means by saying that the priest, by virtue of the sacrament of Ho-
ly Orders, acts in persona Christi Capitis:
It is the same priest, Christ Jesus, whose sacred person his minister truly
represents. Now the minister, by reason of the sacerdotal consecration
which he has received, is truly made like to the high priest and possesses
the authority to act in the power and place of the person of Christ himself
(virtute ac persona ipsius Christi).
Christ is the source of all priesthood: the priest of the old law was a fig-
ure of Christ, and the priest of the new law acts in the person of Christ.

tras vidas? ¿Con qué frecuencia permitimos al Espíritu San-
to ser nuestro guía?

Saint Rita of Cascia
circa 1381 – 1457 Feast Day – May 22
Born near Spoleto, Italy, Rita wanted to be a nun but married in deference to her parents. For nearly 20 years,
she endured her profligate husband’s mistreatment. Following his violent death, she was admitted after three refusals to an Augustinian convent at Cascia, where she
spent the next 40 years. She is remembered for her devoted care of sick nuns and for a deep forehead wound
that lasted 15 years, caused she said by a thorn from Christ’s crown of thorns. She has a large popular
following, and is invoked in Italy for difficult situations.
