Acceptability of Telemedicine Acceptability of Telemedicine Technology among Physicians Technology among Physicians Paul J. Hu, Patrick Y. K. Chau, Olivia R. Liu Sheng and Paul J. Hu, Patrick Y. K. Chau, Olivia R. Liu Sheng and Kar Yan TamKar Yan Tam
Examines the growing acceptance of Telemedicine technology among physicians using the TAM model
ΤΑΜ is an intention-based model developed specifically for explaining and/or predicting user acceptance of computer technology
Found that the model is reasonably useful in explaining the growing acceptance

Acceptability of Telemedicine Acceptability of Telemedicine Technology among PhysiciansTechnology among Physicians
Perceived usefulness was found to be a significant determinant of attitude and intention but perceived ease of use was not. The finding suggests that ΤΑΜ may not be appropriate for user populations who have considerably above-average general competence and intellectual capacity or have constant and reliable access to assistance in operating technology. The explanatory power of ΤΑΜ, particularly the perceived ease of use factor, may weaken as the competency of the users increases

ResultsResultsTogether, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use accounted for only 37 percent of the variances in attitude, which is considerably less combination of perceived usefulness and attitude explained 44 percent of the variances in intention to use the technology, which is also less as compared to older studies

Organizational Change Organizational Change through ITthrough IT
“IT increasingly changes jobs, skill needs, and
relationships. Technical change has become
synonymous with organizational change. Such
change can be complex, painful, and disruptive.
The people side of IT is often more difficult to
anticipate and manage smoothly than is the
technological side.” Peter Keen
