What is a “high comfort building”?

• Comfortable feeling independent the outside weather conditions

• Influencing parameters:– Surface temperatures– Air temperature– Air velocity– Air humidity– Air quality– Degree of activity– Clothing

Necessity of a well-defined definition


• BASE CONDITIONS– Heating demand ≤ 15 kWh/m².year– Air tightness n50-value ≤ 0,6 /h– Frequency of overheating ≤ 10% above 25°C

• SECONDARY CONDITIONS – U-values (walls, floors, roofs) ≤ 0,15W/m².K– U-values windows ≤ 0,80W/m².K– U-values glass ≤ 0,80W/m².K– Efficiency of heat exchanger ventilation ≥ 75%– Efficiency fans (SPF) ≤ 0,45W/(m³/h)– Thermal bridge free construction Ψ ≤ 0,01W/m.K

Passive house concept is currently the only well-defined standard!

Build-in ≤ 0,85W/m².K
