    Pollution andEnvironment

Pollution comes from the cars we drive to thecleaning chemicals we use and the carpet andpaint on our walls. With each decision to purchasea new product, drive your car, or use chemicalsfor pest control you are contributing to pollution.

The World Health Organizationstates that 2.4million people die each year from causes directlyrelated to air pollution. The illnesses includeaggravatedasthma, bronchitis,

emphysema, lung and heart diseases, andrespiratory allergies.

The worst air pollutant emissions are caused by

the combustion of petroleum productsdiesel oil, heating oil, and heavy fuel oil. Although airpollution comes from large industrial plants, alarger source of pollution comes fromtransportation.

Over the past two decades The Great PacificGarbage Patch (aka Plastic Soup) has beenaccumulating in the North Pacific and is nowlarger than the state of Texas ! This large floatingisland of plastic and non-biodegradable trash isfrom non-recycled excessive human consumption.

According to the Environmental ProtectionAgency (EPA) the U.S. has 3,091 active landfillsand over 10,000 inactive municipallandfills. Although proper measurements in mostcases have been made (liner and leach atecollection system), they still leach harmful andpotentially fatal toxins into the soil, water, and air.
