The language is for a general audience. - Formal structure.

- Not too technical . Basic terms that the average user can

understand and follow. The tutorial was not very interesting

because the tone was formal, but it was written by Microsoft for a specific purpose and the purpose was served.

The tutorial was:› Clear› Easy to follow› Brief but precise› All steps were included

Screen shots Sentence structure format Limitation of unnecessary steps Formal sentences, because the action

is immediate

The tutorial was useful because it gave us good examples of how to structure sentences for a manual.

It showed that when writing manuals for computer applications, key strokes as well as mouse actions can be utilized.

The layout that they chose allows users that typically use mouse actions to try key strokes which can be useful.

The screen shots were limited but used at the appropriate time. Screen shots can also be a deterrent.

All steps were included in the process. The tense was present which allowed

immediate action. It is a good example of writing for a

manual.
