+Studying Abroad

Idea: I got the Idea when I realized there was a lack of females studying abroad in my society.

Motivation: The negative mentality in my society about females studying abroad pushed me into putting my idea into action.

Process: My process included passing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) and achieving the requirements to study in the USA.

Goal: Got accepted into University of Massachusetts Boston and moved to USA.

+My Influences

1. My father: His support and encouragement towards passing the IBDP and applying to universities abroad.

2. Other students: The competition in my school was high, students around me motivated me into always wanting to work hard and achieving high grades.

3. My Hijab: Once I started wearing the scarf over my head, people around me started treating me differently in a negative way. This pushed me into working harder in order to prove them wrong.

+Conclusion

The outcome of Human Achievement may look pretty but the truth beneath it could also be ugly. As Zinn says through out his reading, “The oppressor is also a victim” (Zinn, 10) This is also shown through out the process of Sheikh Zayed constructing his country. There are still victims now a days that lived in this land years before it was a country but now they no longer belong to it.
