Upgrade using technical infrastructure skills

Fidelity is one of the UK’s largest investment fund managers with over 660,000 customers in the UK. They look after assets worth $240.4 billion and are dedicated to achieving the best possible returns for their investors.

Fidelity have an infrastructure environment that has a complex deployment of SSL encryption that was configured by a third party. PureApps were asked to come in and renew the certificates as they were about to expire. Upon the initial review of the system it was confirmed that the most complex SSL deployment option had been implemented and this would require more time for the change to take place and also more risk. Also, there were a number of other security concerns that were raised during the review.

The new SSL certificates were deployed successfully, well within the time and budget constraints and without any unscheduled downtime. Since the completion of this work, the business decided to utilise PureApps again to assist with the migration of their old environment to the latest version. Fidelity came to this decision after reviewing the PureApps proposal that demonstrated the depth of knowledge and experience in this area gained from many migration projects in the past.

Driving pan-European finance transformation

The company has grown to become the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer and one of the leading automakers. With a global network of 466 subsidiaries and affiliates accounted for under the equity method, Honda develops, manufactures and markets a wide variety of products, ranging from small general-purpose engines and scooters to speciality sports cars, to earn the company an outstanding reputation from customers worldwide.

PureApps delivered a planning and statutory reporting solution for Honda Motors Europe Limited to include sales, units and financial planning across 28 entities within Europe. This included the collation of actuals across multiple instances of SAP, from which PureApps provided a single, cohesive EPM repository for reporting and planning.

Refining the financial close process

INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, speciality chemicals and oil products. It comprises 15 businesses each with a major chemical company heritage. Its production network spans 51 manufacturing facilities in 11 countries throughout the world.

PureApps used a proven methodology to migrate INEOS from Hyperion Enterprise to Hyperion Financial Management and FDM Version 11.

During the last quarter of 2011, due to change in reporting requirements from UK GAAP to IFRS and restructuring of the entity structure, the decision was taken to upgrade from Enterprise to HFM Version 11.1. The aim of this upgrade was to achieve the following:

• Single Data Source for ifrS and UK gAAP - use of consolidation system as the single source of numbers for all IFRS and UK GAAP consolidated reporting.

• feasible in 2012 – Greater control and better analysis for the 2012 year end.

• Scalable – processes to allow INEOS AG to assimilate further business into its processes.

Global consolidation – streamlined reporting

NSK was founded in 1916 and produced the first ball bearings made in Japan. Since then, the company has spearheaded the development of bearings in Japan. NSK now offers a full range of bearings and sells them worldwide. NSK bearings have contributed greatly to the growth of many industries and to the advancement of mechanical technology. Now, the company has the largest share of the bearings market in Japan and is one of the largest bearing suppliers in the world.

PureApps implemented Hyperion Financial Management and Financial Data Quality Management to replace their existing SAP BPC application. This pan-European system utilised FDM to transfer the Hyperion output from Europe to Japan in order to comply with their J-Sox requirement.

Increased efficiency with a world-class budgeting solution

Around 2 million customers and 11,000 companies in the UK currently use Simplyhealth’s services, which include private health insurance, group medical insurance, third party administration of large corporate healthcare schemes, and cash and dental plans.

Through building an unrivalled relationship with PureApps, Simplyhealth successfully transformed their financial processes through a complete suite of Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management tools. Implementations of Hyperion Planning, HFM and Disclosure Management have revolutionised their financial strategy.

Savills streamlines European consolidation, statutory and management reporting with Hyperion Financial Management and PureApps Consulting

Savills is a leading global real estate service provider listed on the London Stock Exchange.

The company, established in 1855, has a rich heritage with unrivalled growth. It is a company that leads rather than follows and now has over 200 offices and associates throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.

During 2009/10, Savills delivered a financial consolidation project using Oracle Hyperion Financial Management in conjunction with PureApps. Savills also replaced the existing Payroll and HR systems using Resourcelink and HR.Net, including the implementation of self-service.

Other achievements of note include in the UK: finishing migrating Savills’ MPLS to a single vendor, reducing management time required and costs.

Robust reporting delivered with HFM

QinetiQ Group Plc (QinetiQ) provides science and technology products and solutions to government defence and security organizations. The company also provides information technology solutions, managed services and consulting services to government and civil customers along with Ministry of Defence (MoD).

PureApps migrated HFM and FDM Version 4 to version 11, simultaneously integrating with QinetiQ’s existing SAP ERP solution. Using advanced scripting in FDM a data staging area was achieved which pushes results into HFM on a timely basis.

William Grant and Sons Hyperion Planning End User Training Programme

PureApps trained William Grants and Sons on Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Financial Reporting, Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Microsoft Office, Oracle Hyperion Shared Services and Essbase Analytic Server.

Course content comprised of end user Hyperion Planning functionality such as the use of input forms, running of rules, understanding of hierarchies and system build, use of approvals modules, adding of commentary, use of Smart View and version control. To complement each of the 8 different training courses delivered as part of this project a separate guide was produced. Where changes were made to the system in the run up to go live (due to unforeseen additions to the scope of the Hyperion Project) an addendum to the guide was created. Each course book consisted of screen shots and a step by step guide through exercises. In addition to this, each step of the end user training was recorded and narrated and produced into a corporate video (split into chapters) that the client has hosted on their internal learning network for future use post go live.

PureApps delivered training to approximately 120 end users across the business from South America, North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australasia. These users comprised of employees from both the parent company and the wholly owned subsidiaries: Global Travel Retail, Quality Spirits International and William Grants Inc.
