By 1968, Kentucky Fried Chicken was the largest fast food business in America and in 1969 it was listed on the New York Stock Exchange

In July 1971 Brown sold the company to the Connecticut-based Heublein, a packaged food and drinks corporation, for $285 million ($1,615,624,486 in 2013 dollars).[

In July 1986, Reynolds divested KFC to PepsiCo for a book value of $850 million ($1,780,251,973 in 2013 dollars).

The company president

John Cywinski serves as President of KFC USA. In his current role, John is responsible for managing the strategy and vision for KFC USA. The KFC USA leadership team reports directly to John. John joined KFC USA in August 2010 as Chief Marketing and Food Innovation Officer and was promoted to General Manager for KFC USA in February 2011. He was promoted to his current leadership position in November 2011.
