First of the Rural Divi-dend grants awarded
Under the BC Rural Dividend an-nounced in April, the provincial govern-ment announced the recipients of theproject development grants (of up to$10,000 each) to be used to promote eco-nomic sustainability, while contributingto a community’s overall resilience andliveability. Five communities in theFraser-Nicola region have received fund-ing: Village of Cache Creek, Village ofClinton, Village of Ashcroft, Lytton In-dian Band & Nicomen Natural ResourcesManagement (Nicomen Indian Band).
Final decisions on Rural Dividendproject applications for single applicants(up to $100,000) and partnerships (up to$500,000) will be announced in Septem-ber 2016. Locally, the Nicola Valley Com-munity Theatre Society has applied for aproject grant.
A second intake of the BC Rural Divi-dend will run from Oct. 3-31, 2016. Appli-cants are advised to check for the updatedprogram guide online (www.gov.bc.ca/ru-raldividend) in September, as eligibility re-quirements are being reviewed as part of acontinuous improvement process.
