DESIGN BUREAU MIL

Michael Miles was born in Irkutsk, in a family of Jewish origin, his father, Leontius Samoilovich Miles, was a railroad employee, mother, Mary Yefimovna - a dentist. His grandfather, Samuel Miles, was the cantonments, after 25 years in the Navy ended up in Siberia.

At the age of twelve Michael made a model airplane, which won the competition in Tomsk. In 1925 he enrolled at the Siberian Institute of Technology, he studied there for two years and then transferred to the mechanical faculty Don, Novocherkassk Polytechnic Institute, where the aviation profession.

In 1947, Miles became the chief designer of helicopter pilot CB. In 1951, under the direction of Mill created the first soviet serial 3-seater helicopter, the Mi-1. In 1964, Miles became the chief designer experienced in size. His team created the Mi-2, the Mi-4 Mi-6 Mi-8, Mi-10 Mi-12, Mi-24, B-12, etc.

Died January 31, 1970 in Moscow. He was buried at the cemetery Yudinskom close to the train platform Perkhushkovo.
