• The courses are designed for the emerging music producer and audio enthusiasts who wish to enhancetheir knowledge and production skills and to gain a better understanding of industry requirements.Providing the student with extended practical real world experiences and theoretical concepts to startdeveloping advanced skill required in the professional audio production work, this course is designed toequip the student with the essential knowledge to competently record, produce, arrange, and mix.Industry standard DAWs such as Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase and Reason are taught. Thecourse is taught using hands-on workshops and individual practical time. The course also has theobjective of teaching the practical use of music technology, with MIDI programming, digital samplers anddigital synthesizers as well as hard disc based recording within the creative stream of music production.

• Degree Studies

• Throughout the course, you will develop strong business acumen and the skills needed to support musicevents. You will complete a sound recording project and undertake in-depth study of live sound design,live sound reinforcement, and music for image – a particularly creative and popular aspect of the course.You will be exposed to a wide cross section of skills relevant to gaining a foothold in the music industry,concentrating on topics such as the music business, entrepreneurial skills, music and masscommunications and live sound system design.

• A degree in Sound Production opens the door to a fulfilling and varied career that enables you to followyour interests and talents. Typical careers include: studio and live engineering, producing music, anddesigning live sound systems. • The course offers a unique insight into the expanded field of music technology, giving you ablend of creative practice in music with a technical perspective critical for success within therapidly developing music events business. This course stimulates your innate love of music,music production and music technologies, explores and identifies what music is, what musicdoes, and what music means and provides a structured approach to your career progressionas technologist, producer, performer, composer, teacher, or academic

• In the first year you will be given an introduction to theory and practice, taking modules inacoustics, audio programming and music theory, studio engineering and mixdown, live soundengineering, and academic skills.

• In your second year you will continue your research and practice in studio engineering andproduction, including DSP theory and advanced mixdown and mastering using both hybrid andsurround systems. You will explore key developments in music technology, and develop skills insynthesis and game sound.

• In your final year you will develop your professional practice and expand your skills, exploresoftware and hardware interface design, practice in multimedia production, and developmusic for image. You will also undertake your final project, which will be a significant piece ofwork such as an album, a video game or film soundtrack, or a dissertation.

• Graduates from this course will have highly developed music technology and production skills,along with the entrepreneurial and creative abilities necessary to ensure that many careers inthe fast developing music industry can be pursued. Examples of careers include:

• Do you want to make films and TV programmes? Do you have ambitions to become a director,producer, editor, or cinematographer?

• This course can help you in a number of ways. The main aim is for you to develop the skillsneeded to create and produce films and television programmes in a variety of existing andevolving contexts for viewing and distribution – including broadcast television, online, and incinemas. Additionally, the course will extend your understanding of the reach, responsibilityand influence of “content”, the means of production, and distribution. It has a particularemphasis upon the sensibilities of social action and inclusion that underpin global citizenshipand that could shape the entrepreneurial and employment landscape that productiongraduates will enter - and influence – when they complete their studies

• The emphasis on the management of challenging, complex productions will provide you with apowerful set of skills, which will enhance your employability in any field, as will the experienceof effective working with others as you collaborate with fellow students, clients,commissioners, actors and other participants in the films/programmes you make.

• On completion of the course;

• You will be a videographer/programme-maker/film-maker who may have chosen to develop aspecialism in one or more areas of production, such as directing, producing, editing, camera,sound, writing.
