TQ all Persons Interested in the History' /; .' of Ulster County. .'; {:

The County of Ulster has been settled, fi-oni the first occupation of the country, by the Hoi-landers, and is, therefore, rich in historical materials. But these materials are fast being lost, through the decay aud destruction of perishable documents, ,and the death of those with whom must be buried many of the tradit ions' 6f thj$ past. Is it not time to rescue what remains? ,ahd is it not a work which admits of no delay ? I Ttiis, work can only be effectively done by means •of a County Historical S.ocietv, composed of some in every town, who shall become act ive members of'the same, and who shall search ou t ahd bring together all of the former days tha t seems to be SvOrth preserving. ••'.)

We, therefore, the undersigned, would earnestly invite the friends of such a n enterprise, to meet in counsel in the basement of the Reformed Dutch Church a t New Pal tz , on TIJESDAY, tile Kith day of May next, at 2o 'c lock , p . M. . The Society, if formed, .will ha re in view tho

following objects : '*//; 1. The collection of books, documents, p a

pers, and tradi t ions; connected with the paat history of Ulster Co. . .

2. The preparat ion of family, genealogical tables, and of biographical sketches.

, 3. The publication of a correct, authentic his^-tory of the County ; and i

4. When it disbands, the presentation of i t s collections to the New York State His tor ica l Society. - . :^:/:/-. < We ?nost sincerely ho^e, that public spirrfcetr

citizens, in all, par ts of Ulster, in every town-^ ship, will consider this as a mat ter of impor tance and j cordially respond to this call, by meet ing us a t the t ime and place appointod.
