Dress an Angel

Each year Helping Hands and the St. Stephen’s Women’s Organization coordinate the “Dress an Angel” project. The

families that are chosen to be recipients of this project have been helped by Helping Hands of Midland in the past and are in need but are not receiving any assistance from any other agency or organization for

the holidays. These families will receive a gift certificate to buy food for Thanksgiving and Christmas, a bag of presents for each child as well as

toys. Beginning Saturday November 4th 2017, the children of these families become our Angels and are available to be chosen by you, the parishioners. After mass, some members of the Women’s Organization

will be in the foyer near the “Angels” banner to assist you in signing up to buy Christmas presents, clothing and a fun toy for the Angel or Angels of

your choice. Directions will be handed out with the Angel card as well as a bag in which you should place your Christmas wrapped

presents. Our phone number is on the Angel card in case you have any questions or a problem. We do accept

donations of money if you prefer not to shop. Thank you so much for your support! These children in need will receive

Christmas presents because of YOU!

God bless, Carmen Rodelo and Leticia Gutierrez

RCIA meets in the ballroom on Tuesdays from 6:45 - 8:45 p.m. This Tuesday Deacon Luis Mata will teach us about the Sacraments with a focus on the Sacrament of Baptism. The Sacraments are God's gift to help us live godly lives. They are Sacred Mysteries and visible signs of God's love for us. Our Saint

of the Day will be Saint Jude. "RCIA" stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It's the process by which adults come into full

communion with the Catholic Church by receiving their Sacraments of Initiation. It's free, childcare is provided, we have a lot of fun and we always have something good to eat. If you have questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].

Hablan y no practican.

Dress an Angel

coordina el proyecto “Dress and Ángel”.

Next week we will begin collecting donations to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner to approximately 200 needy families in Midland. While in the past we have provided food boxes to these families we would like this year to give each of those families a $50 gift certificate for Thanksgiving and a $50 gift certificate for Christmas that can be redeemed at Super Mercado for the food items of their choice (alcohol and tobacco products are of course excluded). We decided on the gift certificates because we felt the families should be allowed to choose what they want for their holiday meals. We are asking for your help with this project so that it will not interfere with our funding of the poor with their rent, utilities and medical expenses. There is an envelope attached to the St. Stephen’s bulletin and we hope that you will return it next week with an offering. Thank you in advance for your support! We are also planning on providing Christmas clothes and toys to 400 children this year. The Women’s Organization from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church has undertaken the project of seeing that these children all receive a complete set of new clothing plus a toy, and St. Ann’s Catholic Church is again holding their toy drive which will be the source of the toys that the children receive. We welcome any donations that any of you would like to give. Toys can be brought to our store at 1301 Brinson Lane, Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. or they can be left in our truck outside of St. Stephen’s. The recipients are mainly children from the Head Start program (the families of which are extremely low-income), residents of Safe Place and Family Promise, and children of our own clients who our caseworkers have been working with. They are certainly children in need! We are always so grateful for all of you who do so much to help the poor through your support of Helping Hands. Please know that you are always in our prayers. May God bless you abundantly!
