The Delaware Colony

Founding Peter Minuit was a Dutch

colonists and founded New Sweden of Delaware as part of new nether land

When Charles II the king on New England gave his brother,James,the Duke Of York, New Netherland and demanded and received surrender. They then named the colony New Sweden in 1638

Important Person Peter Minuit is a very important

person due to the founding of Delaware

Peter Minuit was summoned and sent by 12 year old Queen Christina

While sent he was told to find a new colony and founded New Sweden and today Delaware in 1638

William Penn is important to the colony of Delaware, he thought that everyone should have a freedom of religion, and aside his was the founder of the Delaware colony before it became state in the late 1800’s

Religion In the middle colonies

there was a mixture of religion

Including the Quackers,Cathoilics,Lutherens,Jews,and others

The great awakening swept the colonies. This was a movement to refocus peoples minds and thoughts on church and their religion

Geography and Climate The climate in the

Delaware Colony was perfect crops and wasn’t to hot or to cold just right to maintain a great economy

The flat grounds made nice land for the crops

Natural Resources and Economy

Delaware had 2 things that makes this colony a great industry

This includes fish because of the rivers on the coasts and the forest because it made a great economy with lumbering and selling this made great money aside the crops
