WELCOME TO THE 46TH QUEENSLAND HOT ROD SHOW

The Queensland Hot Rod Promotions (QHRP) Committee welcomes all sponsors, exhibitors, entrants and spectators to the 46th Queensland Hot Rod Show. The show returns to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre showcasing an eclectic display of automotive art.

Stunning restorations are coupled with innovative designs and fabrications to create a magnificent display of colour and chrome over one weekend.

In 2016, motoring professionals and enthusiasts, together with spectators can expect a show that continues to increase both in size and quality. Spectators can look forward to a visual spectacular, family friendly entertainment and a variety of displays from local and inter-state businesses throughout the weekend. There will also be the opportunity for one person to win a learner friendly Harley-Davidson, purchased by QHRP from Morgan and Wacker.

When Pat’s Pro Resto’s decided to sponsor an award for the QHRP Queensland Hot Rod Show, they wanted it to achieve 2 things:

1. honor someone who’s played a significant role in the history and development of the Queensland Hot Rod Show, an event that we all enjoy today, and 2. motivate Australia’s car builders and owners to build and bring their impressive vehicles to the Queensland Hot Rod show.

Named after a top bloke and fantastic announcer at car events across the nation, the Milty Award was created in honor of the late Milton Adey. The QHRPs association with Milton Adey goes back to the 70’s, when the show was held at Indooroopilly Shopping Town. Naming this top award after Milton is a tribute to his extraordinary contribution to the modified vehicle scene.

Thanks to Pat’s Pro Resto’s and Refinishing, the winner of the 2016 Milty Award will take home $3,000 in prize money and win the coveted Milty Trophy. The Milty award will go to the vehicle judged as the most outstanding on show. All judged vehicles are eligible to win the award and are not required to be road registered to qualify.

In 2015, Nathan Borg was awarded the inaugural Milty Award for his incredible Datsun 1200. In 2016, we look forward to announcing the next Milty Award winner and adding his/her name to the Milty Perpetual Trophy that will form part of the Queensland Hot Rod Show history for the next generation of motoring enthusiasts.

Youngcare

A hard-working teenager, Zaine loved his new job as a jackaroo near Townsville and had acquired his own car to travel there from his home in Ayr.But while taking it for a test drive he lost control on a bend. Zaine suffered massive head injuries. He was rushed to hospital but not expected to live.After months on life support and numerous operations, he was eventually moved to the rehab unit to start the long and difficult road to recovery.Zaine is now wheelchair dependent and has lost the ability to speak. The family fought a three-year battle to find him a place in supported accommodation only to find that they did not have the money to buy all the specialised equipment.Family members contributed whatever they

could and exhausted all sources of funding to buy a wheelchair, mattress, bath chair and other aids. The last and most important item was a high-low hospital bed costing thousands of dollars. Finally they rang the Youngcare Connect service. Youngcare was able to provide the money they needed.Zaine’s Aunty Melita says: “There is a terrible lack of funding available to young adults to provide much needed medical aids and equipment. Without the kind donation from Youngcare, my beautiful nephew Zaine would have lost his placement and would still be in the hospital, on another waiting list, spiralling back into depression.“He now has a room all to himself. My bright happy boy is coming back. The future is going to be hard for Zaine but with family support, anything is possible for him".

In Australia, there are over 7,000 young people with high care needs in aged care and over 700,000 being cared for at home, often with limited support. Youngcare’s mission is to ensure all young people can live young lives with choice, dignity and

independence in age appropriate accommodation.

Entry is open to all patrons who purchase a valid ticket via the show program and/or at the show merchandise stand. (“Eligible Entrant”). 3. The Prize Draw will take place at 4:00 pm (AEST) on 22/05/2016 at the main stage of the Hot Rod show at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.10. The first valid entry drawn will win a Harley Davidson Street 500 (bike will be airbrushed at the show). The RRP of the prize is based on full RRP and all on-road costs (dealer delivery and statutory charges, 12 months’ registration and stamp duty).
