Things You Should Know About The RETRAX ™ System

Retrax ™ bed covers install without drilling in about 1 hour using four to six clamps. The only tools required for installation are a 9/16" wrench and a Phillips screwdriver. Exceptions would be the Ford Sport Trac, the Chevy Sportside and the Nissan Titan, which require some drilling. The patented RetraxONE ™ is unique because it is manufactured from polycarbonate, a durable thermoplastic com-monly known as LEXAN®. Our low-profile design incorporates a front cover that is flush with the rolling cover; this streamlines the overall appearance and provides a firm dependable seal to help keep the bed dry. The Retrax ™ covers are reinforced with up to 20 tempered aluminum support beams (I-beams) located every 4 ¾", which will hold 200 lbs. The Retrax ™ rolls easily on sealed ball-bearing rollers that are mounted onto the aluminum support beams. There are also 4 anti-bind ball bearing rollers installed horizontally – one on each corner of the bed cover – which keeps the bed cover form binding when it is opened and closed. Retrax ™ bed covers can be installed with aftermarket bed rails. A hole may have to be drilled in the Retrax ™ rail over the stake pocket for the bed rail anchor bolt to pass through. This method is recommended instead of stake pocket cutouts for most aftermarket bed rails. Retrax ™ bed cover rails can be notched or cut at the factory to provide complete access to the truck’s factory stake pocket holes for an additional charge. This allows the use of cargo tie-downs and ladder or cargo racks. Retrax ™ bed covers will work with all types of bed liners. There are no modifications needed for spray-in liners. Plastic drop-in bed liners may need to be cut or notched depending on the fit, type of liner and model of truck. Warranty & Returns Policy

Warranty Statement Applied Products, Inc. (referred to as manufacturer) warrants each new Retrax retractable pickup bed cover to the original owner as follows: The Retrax has a limited lifetime warranty for the failure of materials and workmanship. Warranty replacement costs will be prorated after three (3) years. All merchandise being returned to Applied Products, Inc. for warranty repair or credit must be pre-approved by Applied Products, Inc. It is important to note that unless completely necessary, we will replace the damaged part only. All “complete field destruction” must be pre-authorized by Applied Products, Inc. Our sales and technical staff are available to assist our customers with any installation or operation questions. - Normal wear over the life of the Retrax- Water intrusion at any location or any damage caused as a result - Other dealer and/or purchaser installed parts & accessories

- Lubrication of the rails or sealed ball bearings - Altering the Retrax in any manner without written approval from the manufacturer - Use for any purpose other than the normal intended use - Misuse, negligence or accident - Installation of any other part or accessory which comes in contact with or may interfere with the

RETRAX ™ MAINTENANCE AND USE INSTRUCTIONS

USE Opening and Using the Cover Using your Retrax ™ cover is as simple as opening the lock cover and pressing the button at the center of the latch to pop open the handle (1). If properly installed, the cover should be able to roll open and closed easily with one hand (2). During the break-in period more effort may be needed, but you still should be able to roll the cover open and closed with one hand.

Closing and Locking the Cover To latch your Retrax ™ cover anywhere along the rail, push down firmly on the end of the lock handle using both thumbs (3). It takes this amount of force because it is a friction lock in any open position. The Retrax ™ cover is easier to latch in the fully closed position due to a recess in the rail.

MAINTENANCE & CARE Cleaning and Caring for Your Cover Treat your Retrax ™ cover like you would treat the hood of your truck. You can wash and wax your cover like you would your pickup, but we don’t recommend using any plastic cleaners or protectants (Carnauba wax is fine on your Retrax ™ cover). The weatherstripping on your cover may absorb soapy residue from a car wash, so we recommend wiping down the inside of your rails from time to time (5). Important: NEVER spray any lubricant or cleaner in the rails. This will void your warranty. The ball bearings are sealed and will not need any sort of lubricant or spray. If the rails do feel a little “sticky”, you may rub some paraffin (candle) wax along them until they wear in (6).

Securing Loose Cargo Retrax ™ covers make transporting loose and large pieces of cargo safe and secure; a unique feature that most tonneau covers cannot claim. To secure any item too big to fit under the cover, latch the lock handle shut against the item to help keep it in place (4).

USE Opening and Using the Cover Using your Retrax ™ cover is as simple as opening the lock cover and pressing the button at the center of the latch to pop open the handle (1). If properly installed, the cover should be able to roll open and closed easily with one hand (2). During the break-in period more effort may be needed, but you still should be able to roll the cover open and closed with one hand.

Closing and Locking the Cover To latch your Retrax ™ cover anywhere along the rail, push down firmly on the end of the lock handle using both thumbs (3). It takes this amount of force because it is a friction lock in any open position. The Retrax ™ cover is easier to latch in the fully closed position due to a recess in the rail.

MAINTENANCE & CARE Cleaning and Caring for Your Cover Treat your Retrax ™ cover like you would treat the hood of your truck. You can wash and wax your cover like you would your pickup, but we don’t recommend using any plastic cleaners or protectants (Carnauba wax is fine on your Retrax ™ cover). The weatherstripping on your cover may absorb soapy residue from a car wash, so we recommend wiping down the inside of your rails from time to time (5). Important: NEVER spray any lubricant or cleaner in the rails. This will void your warranty. The ball bearings are sealed and will not need any sort of lubricant or spray. If the rails do feel a little “sticky”, you may rub some paraffin (candle) wax along them until they wear in (6).

Securing Loose Cargo Retrax ™ covers make transporting loose and large pieces of cargo safe and secure; a unique feature that most tonneau covers cannot claim. To secure any item too big to fit under the cover, latch the lock handle shut against the item to help keep it in place (4).

Replacement Part Issues If a warranty issue arises with a Retrax cover, the following steps must be taken in

order for replacement parts to be sent out. Following these steps will ensure a quick resolution to you and your customer’s issue.

Lock Assembly 1) Getting The Serial Number: The first step in addressing a replacement part issue is retrieving the serial number. The serial number is unique to every single Retrax cover that is manufactured, and allows us to quickly and easily identify who purchased the cover and when. The serial number can be found underneath the rolling cover near the lock assembly on the driver side.

2) Taking Photos/Explaining What Happened: After finding the serial number, it is important to document what happened. Take as many photos as necessary to show the damage. Make sure to take one far enough away so we can see where the issue is occurring, but close enough so that the damage is visible. Email an explanation of how the damage occurred and the photos to [email protected]. The photo and explanation help tell the story. Photo A shows a general view of the damaged area. Photo B focuses on a more specific area. The combination of these two help us analyze and understand the problem better. (The two photos are just examples; there is nothing wrong with the shown part)

3) Returning Damaged Parts: After receiving the serial number and photos, we will be able to determine exactly what parts need to be sent out (We send only the applicable parts and will not replace the entire Retrax cover if it is not necessary). After sending out the replacement part, we will issue a call tag to have the damaged part(s) shipped back to us. This allows us to

better determine the root cause of the issue.

The Serial Number is 8 or 9 digits and may or may not include a letter in it.

Conditions and Limitations

This warranty is subject to certain conditions and limitations including, but not limited to, the following:

- Any part of a Retrax retractable pickup bed cover that is found to be defective under the terms of this warranty will be repaired or replaced using either new or reconditioned parts at the discretion of the manufacturer.

- In determining what constitutes a failure under the terms of this warranty the decision of the manufacturer will be final.

- This warranty is applicable to the original purchaser only and is not transferable to subsequent purchasers.

- The manufacturer does not accept any responsibility in connection with the installation of any of its products by its dealers or agents.

- The manufacturer does not undertake responsibility to any purchaser for warranty express or implied by any of its dealers, distributors or agents beyond which is contained herein.

- Without regard to an alleged defect of its products the manufacturer under any circumstances does not assume responsibility for loss of time, inconvenience, revenue, or other consequential damage including, but not limited to, expenses for telephone, food, lodging, travel, loss or damage to the vehicle the products are installed on or loss or damage to personal property of the purchaser or user of the products.

- The manufacturer reserves the right to make changes in the design of, improvements to, or warranty of its products without imposing any obligation upon itself to provide the same for any products theretofore manufactured.

- Under no circumstances shall Applied Products, Inc. be liable for special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages sustained in connection with the Retrax cover

Some states do not allow limitations on how long the implied warranty lasts, so the aforementioned limitations may not apply to you.

Claim Procedure

If a part fails, the purchaser should return to the selling dealer to determine if the failed part is covered under the terms of this warranty. If a warranty claim is necessary, the dealer will contact Applied Products, Inc. If it is impractical for the purchaser to return to the selling dealer, then the purchaser may contact Applied Products, Inc. directly at 1-800-206-4070. The defective part, along with a copy of the original bill of sale, must be returned prepaid to Applied Products, Inc. at 917 S. 46th St. Grand Forks, ND 58201. At the manufacturer’s discretion, photos, a copy of the original bill of sale and the serial number may be submitted in lieu of the returned damaged product to Applied Products, Inc. After determining the validity of the warranty claim, Applied Products, Inc. will ship a replacement part prepaid to the customer. Labor costs to replace defective parts are the responsibility of the purchaser.
