The Sacrifices of Motherhood

In a lot of ways, the only people who are capable of

understanding the sacrifices of motherhood are those who have made

them. God has given mothers not only the challenging task of raising

children, but one that requires a lifelong commitment. We find that as

the world changes, the divinely given responsibilities for Godly mothers

do not become any easier.

When we look at the account of Hannah in scripture, we find a

mother who was in a uniquely challenging position. In order to keep

her word to God, she had to prematurely give up the child she longed

for to perform works of service as a priest (1 Samuel 1:19-28). Any

mother could sympathize with this seemingly impossible vow to

uphold; however, Hannah sets a great example concerning the

sacrifices of motherhood.

Even though Hannah may have not done everything perfectly,

she understood that if she wants the best for her and her household,

then she needed to keep her word to the Lord. The reason why

motherhood is not becoming any easier as time continues is because

even though circumstances are changing, Godly responsibilities remain

the same. Mothers still need to do everything they can to remain

faithful to the Lord’s expectations in the stewardship with which they

are presented. Let us honor our mothers, not just today, but every day,

because of the sacrifices they have made and will continue to make.

In love,

Sage

**MOVING/LOADING HELP** May 18th Neil and Crisite Simmons could use some

help loading up a trailer with things from storage.

If you can help please call Cristie at home on

Monday so she can let you know what time.

During World War I, a small boy wrote to his father who had gone

away to war: “Dear Daddy, I love you. I hope you live all your life.”

What does this mean? How do you live all your life?

Well first, you must know God. As H.G. Wells says, “Until a man has

found God, he begins at no beginning and works to no end.”

Second, you must take Christ as your Savior. In fact, that is the way to

know God. As Jesus said, “He who has seen me has seen the Father”

(Jn. 14:9). And Paul said, “For me to live is Christ” (Phil. 1:21). You begin

to live when you decide to give all your life to God.

Third, to live all your life, you must live at your best. That means

understanding and brotherhood. As Abe Lincoln put it: “With malice

toward none; with charity for all.” This means putting first things first-

God, the church, and then others. That means regular and reverent

worship in the house of God. That means placing all your life, every

phase of it-your career, your home, and your play, everything–under

God’s direction.

This is what creates the shape of your beliefs in your personality. Dr.

Harold Urey said about some American exchange students on their

way to Russia, “The best way to export an idea is to wrap it up in a

person.” How true! Wherever you go, wrap up in yourself Christian

love, unselfishness, sacrifice, the cross-and you will go far toward

living all your life.

In one of the great statements of faith, Bob

Moorehead wrote: I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I

have Holy Spirit power. The dye has been cast. I

have stepped over the line. The decision has been

made. I'm a disciple of His. I won't look back, let

up, slow down, back away or be still.

My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and

my future is secure. I'm finished and done with low

living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees,

colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking,

"chincy" giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity,

position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I

don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized,

praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live by

presence, lean by faith, walk by patience, lift by

prayer and labor by power.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven,

my road is narrow, my way is rough, my

companions few, my Guide reliable, my mission

clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured,

lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will

not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the

presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table

of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or

meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed

up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached

up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus.

I must go until He comes, give until I drop, preach

until all know, and work until He stops me And

when He comes for His own, He will have no

problem recognizing me - my colors will be clear.

That should be the cry of every person who takes

The Name of Jesus Christ! That should be me!
