Operating safety

In order to avoid distraction which couldlead to an accident, the driver should entersystem settings with the vehicle at astandstill and operate the system only whenroad and traffic conditions permit. Alwayspay full attention to traffic conditionsfirst before operating system controlswhilst driving.

Bear in mind that at a speed of just 30 mph(approximately 50 km/h), your vehicle iscovering a distance of 44 feet(approximately 14 m) every second.

G Risk of accident

Always select a volume at which you canstill hear sounds from outside the vehicle(e.g. horns, rescue vehicles, policevehicles etc.). You could otherwise cause anaccident.

Change or modification not expresslyapproved by the party responsible forcompliance could void the user's authorityto operate this equipment.

This equipment complies with FCCradiation exposure limits set forth foruncontrolled equipment and meets the FCCradio frequency (RF) Exposure Guidelinesin Supplement C to OET65.

This equipment has very low levels of RFenergy that is deemed to comply withoutmaximum permissive exposure evaluation(MPE). But it is desirable that it should beinstalled and operated with at least8 inches (20 cm) and more between theradiator and a person's body (excludingextremities: hands, wrists, feet and legs.)

Therefore, only have work on and changes toelectronic components carried out at aqualified specialist workshop which hasthe necessary specialist knowledge andtools to carry out the work required.

Display

The display shows all the informationconcerning settings, stations, currenttrack time etc.

Depending on the audio source, thisinformation may differ. Details can befound in the individual sections.

Switching on the smart entry line radio

If the radio was on when the key was turnedback in the ignition lock:

X Turn the key to "ACC" or "ON".

orX Press the q button.

The radio calls up the last activefunction.

i When the radio is switched on withoutthe ignition, the radio switches offagain automatically after 30 minutes.

Switching off the smart entry line radio

X Turn the key to "LOCK" in the ignitionlock.

orX Press the q button.

Displaying station names

The station names can be shown in radiomode:

X Press the $ button.

X Press the : arrow button repeatedlyuntil Station Info is highlighted.

X Press 9 to confirm.The O symbol indicates the activatedoption.

X To deactivate the option, press the 9button again.The ª symbol indicates the deactivatedoption.

X Press the back button to exit the menu.

Volume settings

The set volume applies to both radio modeand USB/AUX mode.

Adjusting the volume

X To raise the volume: turn the controlknob clockwise.

X To lower the volume: turn the controlknob anti-clockwise.

Mute

When in radio mode, the mute functionmutes the radio.

If a traffic announcement is broadcastwhile the radio is muted, the announcementwill still be audible.

To mute the traffic announcement, thex button must be pressed again.

Pressing and holding switches the TA(traffic announcement) function on or off.

Switching on mute

X Press the x button.The currently active operating mode ismuted.

x appears in the display.

Switching off mute

X Press x again.The mute function is deactivated. Thecorresponding symbol on the displaygoes out.

Sound settings

The sound settings can be set separately forthe radio and USB modes. In AUX mode, thesame sound settings are used as in USBmode, but you can make additional settings

on the external device. The sound settingsare automatically stored every time youchange them. The bass and treble settingsallow you to adjust the intensity of thesound according to the type of music beingplayed. The balance settings allow you toadjust the stereo sound to the left or rightwithin the vehicle. In the default setting,the balance is set to the center of thevehicle.

Adjusting the bass

X Press the u number key.

X Press the : button repeatedly untilBass is selected.

X To set the desired value: press the =or ; button to decrease or increasethe value.

X To confirm the value and exit the menu:press the 9 or % or u button.

Adjusting the treble

X Press the u number key.

X Press the : button repeatedly untilTreble is selected.

X To set the desired value: press the =or ; button to decrease or increasethe value.

X To confirm the value and exit the menu:press the 9 or % or u button.

Adjusting the balance

X Press the u number key.

Brightness

Setting the display brightness:

Brightness menu item selected

X Press 9 to confirm.

Adjusting the brightness

X Press the = or ; button to darkenor brighten the display.

X Press 9 or % to confirm and exit themenu.

i The display brightness can be setdifferently for day and night operation.When the lights are switched off, the dayoperation settings are used and when thelights are switched on, the nightoperation settings are used. In nightoperation, the brightness can be reducedusing the dimmer switch on theinstrument cluster (see vehicleOperator's Manual).

Restoring the factory settings

X Press the i button.The system menu appears.

X Press the : or = button to selectSettings and press 9 to confirm.Press the : button to select System Reset.

X Press 9 to confirm.The following prompt appears: Are you sure you want to reset? Yes NoThe default selection is No.

X If you do not want to restore the factorysettings, press 9.

X Press % to exit the menu.

X Press = and 9 to restore the factorysettings.

X The following message appears: The system has been reset and will be restarted

Switching the display on/off

Switching off the display:

X Press the i button.The system menu appears.

X Press the : or ; button to selectDisplay Off.The display switches off.

Switching on the display:

X Press the 9 button.The display switches on again.

i The display can also be switched on bypressing any button except the mutebutton and the station presets.

Selecting stations using the station searchfunction

X Set the desired waveband (Y page 9).X Press the ; button.

The station search starts and searchesforwards.RThe search stops at the next station

that can be received.RIf the end of the waveband is reached,

the search continues at the beginningof the waveband.RIf no station is found, the search stops

at the point where the search wasstarted.

Manual frequency entry

Manual frequency entry is available in allwavebands.

X Set the desired waveband (Y page 9).X Press the $ button.

X Press the 9 or : button to selectEnter Frequency and press 9 toconfirm.The display for manually entering thefrequency appears.

Manual frequency entry

X Press the 9 or : button to set ahigher or lower value for the first digit.

X To set the values of the following digits:press the ; button to select the digit.

X Press the 9 or : button to set ahigher or lower value for the selecteddigit.

X Press the % button to exit the menu.

Selecting stations via the station presets

X Select the desired preset group (FM 1,FM 2 and AM).

X Press one of the station presets 4 –3.The radio selects the station storedunder the selected preset.

Each preset group (FM1, FM2, and AM)provides six presets.

Storing stations using the station presets

X Desired preset groups FM 1, FM 2 andAM.

X Selecting a stationX Press and hold the desired station

preset, e.g. ?, until you hear a tone.The currently set station is stored underpreset ? in the preset group selected.

Storing stations using the Autostorefunction

i The Autostore function automaticallyassigns receivable stations to thepresets in the preset groups FM1, FM 2, ...in an order corresponding to the qualityof reception. Any stations storedmanually in these presets will be lost.

X Select the desired preset group.X Press the : button to select Presets

and press 9 to confirm.The display shows the assignment of thesix presets as well as the Autostoremenu item.

X Press the 9 or : button to selectAutostore and press 9 to confirm.The six stations with the best receptionare saved to the six available memorypositions.

USB/AUX mode

USB mode

Connecting a device

You can use the USB port to connect anexternal audio source to your smart entryline radio. More information is availablefrom any qualified specialist workshop,e.g. a smart Center or a smart servicecenter.

A USB socket is installed on the left-handside of the stowage compartment on thefront-passenger's side and can be used toconnect an external audio device (e.g. MP3player) or a USB storage medium.

i Media is only recognized in the FAT32file system and not in the NTFS filesystem.

Activating the USB socket

X Press the Õ button.

X Press the : button to select Media andpress 9 to confirm.

X If necessary, press the 9 button toselect USB and press 9 to confirm.The main menu appears. The USB menuitem is shown at the bottom left of thedisplay.

i If you insert a USB medium during radiomode, the USB medium is activatedautomatically and the first track on themedium is played.

The Select Active Partition menu itemmakes it possible to display the partitionsof the device that is connected to the USBport and to select the active partition.

Random track sequence within a folder

Proceed as follows to select random tracksequence within a folder:

X Press the : or = button to selectUSB and press 9 to confirm.

X Press the : or 9 button to selectRandom Folder and press 9 to confirm.The activated option is indicated by adot.

X Press % to exit the menu.Symbol for random folder sequence :appears in the display.

Displaying metadata

By activating this option, you can displaythe track stored in the ID3 tag on the mainscreen. When the option is deactivated, thefile name is displayed.

X Press the : or 9 button to selectDisplay Metadata and press 9 toconfirm.O indicates the activated option.

X Press 9 to deactivate the option again.ª indicates the deactivated option.

X Press % to exit the menu.

Music menu

In the Music menu, you can select folders,playlists and tracks.

X Press the : or ; button to selectMusic and press 9 to confirm.The name of the data carrier or thecurrent folder is shown. If there areplaylists on the data carrier, a track canbe selected using either the Folder orPlaylists options. If there are noplaylists on the data carrier, trackselection takes place automaticallyusing the folder structure.

The Info menu contains information aboutthe artist, album and track.

In the Media menu, you can select betweenUSB and AUX mediums, (Y page 10) and(Y page 13).

AUX mode

General information

You can connect an external audio source(audio AUX) to the smart entry line radio.More information is available from anyqualified specialist workshop, e.g. a smartCenter or a smart service center.

You will find a permanently installed 3.5-mm stereo-audio jack on the left of thestowage compartment on the front-passenger side to which you can connectexternal audio equipment (e.g. an MP3player).

Setting the volume level

The volume of AUX sources may be quieterthan the radio playback volume. There aretherefore two volume level settings:Standard and Boost.

X Press the : button to select Volumeand press 9 to confirm.The options Standard and Boost areavailable.

X Select the desired option by pressingthe : or 9 button and press 9 toconfirm.The menu is exited.

Media menu

In the Media menu, you can select betweenUSB and AUX mediums.
