NOTES FROM PAUL

In this week's Gospel (Mk 12:28b34) Jesus gives us the two great commandments, to love God, and to love our
neighbor. We often dwell on the second great commandment, probably because it seems more practical in our daily
lives, but we should not let it overshadow the first. Jesus quotes Moses, (Deuteronomy, 6:5) saying we should "love the
Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." This is a difficult
task. There are many other good things out there that we love; our families, our pets, and maybe even a good book. God
wants us to love these, they probably all fall under the command to love our neighbor, but don't put them before God.

Make sure you cultivate a relationship with God though prayer and reading scripture. Let your love of God pour over
into your love of your neighbor. Over the next year we hope to offer many opportunities to help our parishioners
experience God and our neighbors. But don't wait for us! If you need a Bible, please speak to me, but you can pray or be
a good neighbor at any time.

God bless,

Halloween Greetings and Salutations,

Tomorrow November 1st we celebrate the Solemnity (feast, earnest celebration) of All Saints. We celebrate those men
and women who have followed the path of Jesus. Who is your favorite Saint and why? In today’s Gospel reading we
hear Jesus talk of the 2 greatest commandments. Do you remember them? I’ll give you a hint you may find the 2 Great
Commandments in Luke 10:27.

To all our Faith Formation students if you write down the 2 Great Commandments and are correct a special treat awaits
you when we return to class on November 8th. Do not use GOOGLE for the answer. Open those bibles.
Due to All Saints Day November 1st we will not have Formation sessions. The students are encouraged to attend Mass
at 7pm with their families.

PRAYER FOR AN END TO THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS
Loving God, We come before you in our time of need. We lay before you our concerns and fears over the spread of the
coronavirus. We know that you are mightier than all our fears and that the name of Jesus is the name above all other
names. We ask, in the name of Jesus, that you stop the spread of the coronavirus. In your mercy, heal those who are sick
and lead those who have died into your heavenly kingdom. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that
anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy
intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, we fly unto thee O
Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To thee do we come. Before thee we stand,
sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our
petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer us. Amen.
ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love
you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot at
this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
