4 I don’t think it’s a good idea to eat strangethings because you don’t know what they are orwhat could happen to you. When you are verysmall you can’t reach things that you want. Whenyou are very tall, you can reach everything.Another title for this episode could be “AliceBecomes Trapped”. Alice will find another way outof the room in the next episode.

Alice lived in a quiet village with narrow streetsand a few old empty houses. Every Saturday afterbreakfast, she usually ran off outside to join herfriends in search of fun and adventure.

One Saturday in July however, Alice had tostudy for a test the following Monday and so sheput a blanket down on the grass at the back ofthe house to have peace and quiet away from herbrother. It was lovely and warm and soon she fellasleep.

Just then, her friends passed by and told herthey were going to explore one of the old houses. Alice decided to go too. They chose the onewith the broken windows and the low roof. Itlooked more interesting than the others. Wearing

her favourite pink shorts and Tshirt, she slowlypushed open the small wooden door and led theothers inside into the darkness. As they stood stillto try and get used to the shadows, they all suddenly screamed and screamed as the floor openedup under them. They fell down through the darkness until they landed on something soft.Fortunately, one of the girls had a torch with herand so they could see that they were now in acellar under the old house and sitting on lots andlots of old clothes. “Wow, this is amazing! Theseare from the hippy era!” exclaimed Alice.“I remember my mum telling me about the stylesthat she used to wear back in the 70s. Come on.Let’s take as many as we can. Mum will be ableto tell us who they belonged to and we couldeven wash them and have a fancy dress party!”The girls gathered up as much of the clothing asthey could and started to look for a way out. AsAlice shone the torch up to the ceiling, she couldsee that there was a wooden staircase over in thecorner. It seemed to be strong enough and so theyslowly started to climb back up into the darknessof the main house and then out into the light ofday. “Alice, Alice. Are you awake? What’s thisfancy dress party you’re talking about?” asked hermum in surprise. “Oh, ... my goodness. I had sucha strange dream.”

She told her mum all about the unusualclothes in the cellar of the old house. “That certainly was a strange dream, but now it’s time forlunch...”

Look at this table, and look at this key. Itopens this door, but it’s too small for me. Look atthat garden! I want to go there. But I’m far toobig! Oh, it’s really not fair!

Wait! There’s a bottle! What is it? Let’s see. Thelabel says “DRINK ME!”. It must be for me!*********************************************

Now I am smaller, so I can go through! But the key’s on the table! Oh, what can I do?Look! There’s a cake here, with “EAT ME!” on top.

*********************************************

Oh good! Now I’m taller! That’s tall enough! Stop! Now I’m too big! I can’t fit through the door!I don’t think I like this strange room any more!

Alice cried quietly. Her tears made alake. Oh, why did I eat all that horrible cake?

Then she heard footsteps. The rabbitwas near. Oh my ears and whiskers! I’m solate! Oh dear! I must give the Duchess these glovesand this fan. But then he saw Alice. He screamed, and he ran. Wait! You dropped something! Oh, comeback here, please! You know that the Duchess iswaiting for these! What’s happening now? I keep changing today!

The fan makes me small! I must throw it away!Look! Now I’m tiny! But wait!Where’s the key? And what’s all this water? Am Iin the sea? Now I remember! This isn’t the sea! It’s the tears that I cried! Oh,how silly of me!

What’s all this water? I’m cold and I’mwet!

He doesn’t like water. It makes him upset.

Swimming is lovely. There’s no need toshout.

I don’t like it at all, and I want to get out!

I’m tired, too. I can’t swim any more.Come on, everyone, let’s all go to the shore!

Now we’re all wet, but I’ve got a goodplan! We must all run a race!

So they ran and they ran.

Who is the winner? Nobody agrees!

We ALL won the race! Give us ALL prizes, please!

Here are some sweets. You can have all ofthese.

Oh yes! I love sweets!

But I’d rather have cheese.

This is so lovely, but I miss my cat.

Мышь: What did she say? Did she really say that? She can catch birds and — Oh! What didI say?Додо: We really must go!Алиса: Oh, please, don’t go away! It’s time to go home now!

This is the Gryphon. He knows whereto go. Now, I must play croquet! I’m winning, youknow!

Come on then, Alice. The Turtle’s this way.He sits on that rock and he cries there all day.

Why is he crying? What makes him sosad? Tell Alice your story.

My life is so bad! This is mystory. It’s sad and it’s long. Once I was happy, butthen things went wrong … Suddenly, Alice heard somebody call.

The trial is starting! The King needs youall! Come to the courtroom!

It’s starting! Let’s go! This trial is goingto be quite a good show!

Someone is guiltySomeone must paySo come to the courtroomThe trial starts today!

Hurry up, everyone! Alice, come in! Sitdown over there! Let the trial begin!

These are the Queen’s tarts yousee here now. But we want to find out who stolethem, and how!

Call the first witness!

Hello! Yes, that’s me! I’m sorry, but Iam still having my tea!

Cut off his head!

Oh, please, just go away! We really mustfinish this trial today!

Alice looked down. Something feltvery strange.

I’m growing again! What a bad time tochange!

Call the next witness!

It’s Alice!

Алиса: Oh no!

That girl is too tall, and we want her togo!

Cut off her head!

I’m not scared! I don’t care!

Then all of the playing cards flew upinto the air.

Alice was scared! She woke up witha scream.

Don’t worry, my dear! It was only a dream!

A MAGIC FUTURE
