Fifth Sunday after Trinity 1030am 1 July AD 2018 All Age Worship

Jesus said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the

nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were

breaking.

We pray…

All Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known,

and from whom no secrets are hidden:cleanse the thoughts of our heartsby the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you,and worthily magnify your holy name;through Christ our Lord. Amen.

commandments to love.

- 10 -Prayer after Communion:

[a moment of silence]All Father of all,

we give you thanks and praise, that when we were still far offyou met us in your Son and brought us home.Dying and living, he declared your love, gave us grace, and opened the gate of glory.May we who share Christ’s body live his risen life;we who drink his cup bring life to others;we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world.Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us,so we and all your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise your name;through Christ our Lord.Amen.

- 2 -The Collect:  GRANT, O Lord, we beseech you, that the course of this world may be so peaceably ordered by your governance, that your Church may joyfully serve you in all godly quietness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

New Testament Reading: 1 Peter 3:8-15aFinally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer, But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy.

This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Song: Indescribable

From the highest of heights to the depths of the seaCreation's revealing Your majestyFrom the colours of Fall to the fragrance of SpringEv'ry creature unique in the song that it singsAll exclaiming

Indescribable uncontainableYou placed the stars in the skyAnd You know them by name

Who has told ev'ry lightning bolt where it should goOr seen heavenly storehouses laden with snowWho imagined the sun and gives source to its lightYet conceals it to bring us the coolness of nightNone can fathom

Indescribable uncontainableYou placed the stars in the sky

You are amazing GodAll powerful untamableAwestruck we fall to our kneesAs we humbly proclaimYou are amazing God

And You know them by nameYou are amazing GodIncomp'rable unchangeableYou see the depths of my heartAnd You love me the sameYou are amazing God

The Gospel: St Luke 5:1-11Priest: Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Luke. All Glory to you O Lord.On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on Jesus to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. They signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.Priest: This is the Gospel of the LordAll Praise to you, O Christ.

Agnus DeiAll Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world,

have mercy on us.Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, grant us peace.

All We do not presume to come to this your table, O merciful Father,

trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord, whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body and our souls washed through with his precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

The CommunionBaptized persons who are communicant members of other Churches which subscribe to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and are in good standing in their own Church are welcome to Communion. Come forward with faith, hope, and love, discerning the Lord’s body.

Those who do not wish to receive communion are welcome to come forward for a blessing – you may indicate by crossing your arms over your chest at the altar rail.

- 7 -All Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

(we kneel to pray) All glory be to you, our heavenly Father, who, in your tender mercy, gave your only Son our Saviour Jesus Christto suffer death upon the cross for our redemption;who made there by his one oblation of himself once offereda full, perfect and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfactionfor the sins of the whole world;he instituted, and in his holy gospel commanded us to continue,a perpetual memory of his precious death until he comes again.

Hear us, merciful Father, we humbly pray,and grant that, by the power of your Holy Spirit,we receiving these gifts of your creation, this bread and this wine,according to your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ’s holy institution,in remembrance of his death and passion,may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood;

who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and gave you thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you;do this in remembrance of me.

In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks;he gave it to them, saying:

Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

All Amen.[a moment of silence]

Let us pray. All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy

kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who

trespass against us.And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Talk

The Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,eternally begotten of the Father,God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,begotten, not made,of one Being with the Father;through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Maryand was made man.For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose againin accordance with the Scriptures;he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Praise to the Lord, the AlmightyPraise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near;Praise Him in glad adoration.Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!Hast thou not seen how thy desires e’er have beenGranted in what He ordaineth?Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee;Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,If with His love He befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord, who, when tempests their warfare are waging,Who, when the elements madly around thee are raging,Biddeth them cease, turneth their fury to peace,Whirlwinds and waters assuaging.Praise to the Lord, who, when darkness of sin is abounding,Who, when the godless do triumph, all virtue confounding,Sheddeth His light, chaseth the horrors of night,Saints with His mercy surrounding.Praise to the Lord, oh, let all that is in me adore Him!All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him;Let the Amen sound from His people again,Gladly for aye we adore Him.
