giving charity. Demonstrate understanding of oath usage in classical

Arabic. Explain the meaning of Ghaflah. Explain why Qur’anic Ayat must be examined alongside

OTHER text. Relate Allah’s Might and Mercy to the Qur’an.

>ا فس شيئ قوا يوم>ا ال تجزي نفس عن ن وات وال يقبل منها شفاعة وال يؤخذ منها عدل وال

هم ينصرون

And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be

taken from it, nor will they be aided.

Which day is this Ayah referring to? What are some things that we rely on in this world which will not really help us in the next? What should we focus on instead?

ه قل إن كانت لكم الدار اآلخرة عند اللوا الموت إن اس فتمن خالصة> من دون الن

كنتم صادقينSay, [O Muhammad], "If the home of the Hereafter with Allah is for you alone and not the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful.

In this Ayah, some Jews are being addressed. They thought that just because they are Jewish, they will automatically get the best life in the Hereafter. Does any human have a guarantee that he/she will be accepted into Jannah? Do Muslims ever fall into this mistake of thinking that they are guaranteed Jannah regardless of what they do, just by virtue of carrying the label “Muslim”? Virtues of Ya Sin?

“Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur’an is Ya Sin; whoever reads it, it is as if he has read the Qur’an ten times.” __________________________________

_____“Whoever reads Surat Ya Sin in one night will be forgiven in the morning.”

_____“Whoever continues to read it every night then dies will die as a shahid.”

_____“Whoever enters the graveyard and reads Surat Ya Sin, his (punishment) will be reduced that day, and he will have hasanat equal to the number of people in the graveyard.”

Ya, Sin. By the wise Qur'an.

Indeed you, [O Muhammad], are from among the messengers, upon a straight path. [This is] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful that you may warn a people whose forefathers were

not warned, so they are unaware.

MONTHLY PROJECT 1:QUR’AN ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

Create ANY 2D display which aims to persuade the 4th – 6th graders to spend more time reading

and memorizing Qur’an. They will vote on which project inspired them the most. Best projects will

be displayed in school hallways. Use what you learned about the Qur’an to reach out to the

younger students!

This project is graded. Grades will be based on accuracy of content, creativity/originality, visual appeal, ad slogan (possibly Ayah or Hadith) and

how well display shows understanding of audience

(4th – 6th graders).

Recitation Focus: Surat al-Fatihah

Mark the letters/vowels that you need to practice. Include the time you spend practicing in your Qur’an Log.
