Matter Poster

Directions:

Step 1: In the center of your paper write “Matter” in large letters. Underneath that write your name and class period. Put a circle or box around the title and your name.

Step 2: Make four sections on the rest of the paper.

Step 3: Label the first section “What is Matter”. Using the words “mass”, “volume”, and “atoms”, describe matter in your own words. Include an illustration and a caption explaining its relationship to matter.

Step 4: Label the second section “States of Matter”. In this section draw and label the four states of matter. Describe each state of matter in 2-3 well written sentences.

Step 5: Label the third section “Physical Changes of Matter”. Give three examples of physical changes of matter. Draw an illustration for each and describe how each is a physical change.

Step 6: Label the fourth section “Chemical Changes of Matter” Give three examples of chemical changes of matter. Draw an illustration for each and describe how each is a chemical change.

Step 7: Check your work for spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and neatness. Also check that you completed all of the required elements. Color in your poster!

Scoring Guide:

/5 The title “Matter” is written in the center of the poster. Your name and class period is written in the center. There are four main sections on the poster.

/20 The first section is labeled “What is Matter”. A well-written description of matter which includes the words “mass”, “atom”, and “volume”. An appropriate illustration and caption are included.

/20 The second section is labeled “States of Matter” and includes illustrations and well-written descriptions of the four states of matter.

/20 The third section is labeled “Physical Changes of Matter” and includes three examples of physical changes of matter. Each is illustrated and includes a well-written description.

/20 The fourth section is labeled “Chemical Changes of Matter” and includes three examples of chemical changes of matter. Each is illustrated and includes a well-written description.

/15 Poster is completed neatly and is free from errors. Poster is colored thoughtfully and neatly.
