NC Icon Projects by Jennifer TrippFourth grade reading students have been doing extensive research and making real-life contacts as they are doing a long-term research and writing project on a NC Icon of their choosing. These projects involve creating activities and collecting artifacts to learn more and to teach others about their icons.

From the Desk of Myra Brown, AIG Coordinator

This is a time of transition.  Many of you are aware that I will be retiring at the end of this month.  It has been a privilege to teach in the

Alamance-Burlington School System.  Providing experiences to help students grow academically and creating an environment in which children want to participate has always been a personal

goal.  Working with the AIG teachers in our system has also been a highlight.  There are many

dedicated teachers with exemplary work ethics who willingly go beyond their regular duties to

help our students master new, difficult material. They need to be celebrated!

Some icons include: Grandfather Mountain, Belk, the Venus Fly Trap and many more! This spring we will complete these projects to share with other fourth graders. They are going to be phenomenal learning tools!Students at Garrett Elementary
