Evaluation on poster campaign My chosen theme was identity, the reason I chose this theme is because I feel as if I related to the theme and used my past ideas to create my own poster campaign, I did some research about why identity is important on a website (http://www.anyuakmedia.com/com_temp_92707.html ) as part of doing my research analysis. My poster campaign sends a message of lost identity, young people not knowing who they are because they are affected of what people in the environment say about them, this poster is targeted at young teenagers to young adults who generally go through harassment at college. The purpose of this poster is to demonstrate those students who feel lost about who they are and to make them feel as if they are not alone, and this poster is getting them to ask for help, for example in the corner of my poster I have a help website which is Leyton Sixth Form College, as this college provides professional help such as counselling and to get students who are struggling to go talk to the counsellor and ask for help. Evaluation on poster campaign

My chosen theme was identity, the reason I chose this theme is because I feel as if I related to the theme and used my past ideas to create my own poster campaign, I did some research about why identity is important on a website (http://www.anyuakmedia.com/com_temp_92707.html) as part of doing my research analysis.

Attempt 1

Attempt 2 Attempt 3

Original Picture

Here are some examples of shots I took but only chose one for my poster, attempt one shot was not used because I thought the lighting was a little too dark and the model in the picture was smiling so I did not think it was suitable, attempt 2 shot was average but her hairline shadow was shown on the other half of the face, at first I wanted a picture of the model looking down to represent sad and darkness, but I thought of the idea of the model looking directly at the camera so It would catch the audience’s attention and to look into her eyes and see the hurt which is linked to my theme, attempt 3 was one shot that I was going to use however after the original shot I changed my mind, this is because compare the original shot to the attempt 3 shot, the original shot is high up, I done this by standing on a chair and taking the shot to make it look like she’s looking up at the camera, I thought this was a perfect shot to use, also because the lighting is perfect, half of hair face is dark and the other is light, just how I imagined it. The model in my photos is a student from LSC called Semina Arslan, and I took the pictures using the canon camera. I used the fill light on the right hand side to fill in the shadow that was there, which is why on the right hand side her face is much lighter. On the left hand side where the shadow is seen I used the key light on number 1, I used this light to create a dramatic shadow affect, I used it at the lowest because then it would have been too bright and the shadow affect would not of worked.

First of all, before I edited the skeleton to the face I added a hue/saturation filter to brighten the face and add colour to it, after I came up with the idea of adding a skeleton to the image, the reason I used the skeleton because the theme is about identity, and just her face in general would be too plain and would not attract the audience’s attention so the Skelton revels the theme of identity and

would grab the audience’s attention, I overlayed the skeleton to the face to it looks like a fade in effect to it blends in with the colour of her face, I also used the eraser tool the blend around and the edges of the Skelton so it looks more realistic.

After I edited the face, I spent a lot of time on texts, because that was the most important for my poster, the negative words I used a Viner Hand ITC font and this creates a dramatic scary effect on the words which I found it suitable with my poster so the words stood out more, for the positive words used under it was the Arabic Typesetting which was a simple text affect, I also added bold to the words and expanded them and tilt them a little to make them stand out in the poster.

I

highlighted these words red to make it stand out, this would bring out the words more out and open to the audience, To finish off my poster I used the LSC sign to show the audience that’s where they can go to get help if needed.

As my target audience is based on young adults/teenagers I used the student in the photograph to represent that, as young adults and teenager are going through a lot of stress and pressure built on them, the purpose of this poster is to make them feel as if they are not alone, there are teenagers and young adults that do get harassed on a daily basis and lose their identity and don’t know who they are anymore, but the poster is supposed to illustrate that every individual has a whole life worth living and they are all worthy, the red scary quotes is words that do hurt these young adults and teenagers and possibly nearly everyone gets called at least one of these negative words, so someone can look at this poster and relate to the words because they been called that, which will get them attracted to the poster. I want this poster to be relatable to these teenagers and young adults and if they are lost in identity to use this poster as an inspiration to go get help. The leyton

sign is used as an escape from darkness, if people was to see this poster I wanted to express that there is help, and people are there to listen to their problems and can get them to ask for help.

My first draft did not have an Leyton logo in the corner, all though I was thinking to put an logo to present help I did not know what to put so I asked my teacher Richard for help and he gave me some ideas such as Leyton Sixth Form or even websites that lead to getting help if people are affected by harassment or suffering depression, but I chose Leyton because my target audience is students and Leyton is suitable for them to go get help.

Feedback

My poster was shown to the whole class considering my target audience was for young teens to young adults getting feedback off my classmates was relevant to my poster. The positive comments I received was a lot of work and effort was gone into the face and the effects which makes the image stand out, they also like the fact there’s more lighting contrast on the left side then the right, they also like the negative words with the positive words under it, and also the negative words stand out to capture the audience’s attention. Only one thing I was told to improve was the word ‘beautiful’ was too far to the right other than that I got a positive feedback in general.

First Draft.
