Leonardo Garcia, E.I.T. Graduated May 2012 Current Company: BHP Billiton Title: Graduate Civil Engineer Project Name: Hauglum Central Delivery Point Project Description: The Hauglum CDP is a 19 acre site in Live Oak County, TX that was developed to gather and process hydrocarbons extracted from the Eagle Ford Oil and Gas Field. The site included a truck loading area, a storage area for large tanks and production equipment, and a 1200 ft access road designed for heavy duty truck traffic. The civil portion of the project involved revising the site grading and drainage plan, overseeing the construction, testing local flex base quarries to ensure quality and conformity to geotechnical report, and designing erosion controls to mitigate the impact of construction on adjacent landowners. This was one of the first projects I was involved in where I spent plenty of time in the field. Useful courses included Geotechnical Engineering, Hydrology and Construction Management.
