Microsoft Project 2010

Step 1 Set working folder

1) Create a folder on your Desktop and name it My Projects-Right click on your desktop and select New->Folder

2) Create one folder for each project. Today we will create a folder named Uthen 001

Step 2 Set default behaviors

1) Open Microsoft Project2) File->Close3) File->Options

a. On Schedule tab Week starts on: Monday New tasks created: Auto Scheduled

b. On Save tab Change Default File location: Desktop\My Projects Check Auto save every:15 minutes Select Save active project only Check Prompt before saving

c. On Advanced tab Check Open last file on startup Uncheck Advice from Planning Wizard (because it’s often incorrect or misleading)

Step 3 Open new project and set project options

File->New->Blank project

Set project start date by going to Project->Project Information

Change header font by right click on info image->Text Styles… , and select font and size

View->check Details and select Task Form

Tools->Project Options Decimal digits: 0 Currency: THB Calendar Type: Thai Buddhist Calendar (if you want)

Select Display tab and change Date format: ….”to anything you want”

Project Start Date by going to Project->Project Information-> Start Date

Example

Task Name Predecessors DurationA 10B A 8C A 3D B, C 10E D 5F D, E 6

Make sure Details option is checked.

For Activity A, input following data in Task Form

Name: a Duration: 10 days Uncheck Manually Schedule

For Activity B, do the same as Activity A and

Select Predecessor name

Create task summary for activities B and C by

1. Insert new activity before B

Format Bar Styles to show more info on Gant chart

1. Right click on the Gant chart and select Bar Styles

2. Find Critical activity and click Text3. Type Name as shown in the picture below

View->Calendar

Go back to Gantt chart by View->Grant Chart icon

Double click at activity a and change calendar to Standard Thai Calendar

Make sure the following options are checked
