Dear Teacher, April 2014

As you might be aware, Florida law now requires that all courses have district-wide assessments in place by the end of the 2014-15 school year. Because the students’ results will be used as part of teacher evaluations, Assessment, Research, and Data Analysis (ARDA) are giving teachers the opportunity to aid in the development of those assessments. Providing copies of your mid-term and/or final exams will give you the chance to have your course content and your test questions included in the district-wide assessments that we develop. In this way you ensure that the assessments that we develop are aligned closely to instruction.

Please look through the attached list of courses, organized by subject area. If you teach one or more of the courses listed, we are encouraging you to send us electronic copies of your mid-term and/or final exams. For each exam we need to have the following:

a) Copy of the exam (including items and any related passages or illustrations)

b) Answer keyc) Scoring rubric (if applicable)d) Benchmark measured by each item (if available)e) Source of any copyrighted materials (for example, title and publisher

of a copyrighted reading passage or illustration that you use in your exam)

To upload exam files, click on Test Upload Form.* You will need to click on the link to upload tests separately for each course you teach. By clicking on the link, you will open a form with instructions that will ask you to do the following.

a) select a course, b) attach file(s), c) type in the name of each file you are uploading, andd) identify each file’s contents (items, answer key, benchmarks, etc).

You may either upload one file per course that contains all of the information listed above, or separate files for each type of information provided (items, answer key, benchmarks, etc). We prefer documents in Word or Excel format, but PDF files will be accepted if that is all that you have. Note, if your final test is not comprehensive, i.e., covers all the material you taught throughout the year, please also share your mid-term exam and the corresponding materials.

The files you upload will be secure and your specific contribution(s) will be confidential. They will be seen only by test developers in our office.

On the following page is the list of courses for which we are requesting tests at this time.

HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR TESTS

1. Click on Test Upload Form 2. Use your regular M-DCPS Username and Password to sign on to the

portal.3. Type in your school number and select the course from the drop-down

menu for which you will upload test files

4. Click on Attach File5. Browse to locate the first file on your computer and select one file to

attach.

6. Click OK

7. Type in the name of the file that you attached. 8. Identify the contents of the file by checking all items that apply.

9. If the first file did not have all the information requested, and you have more files to attach, click again on Attach File button at the top, type the name for File #2 where prompted, and repeat the procedure for each file that you wish to attach.

10. If you included copyrighted material, identify it here.

11. Review the files listed in the Attachments Box at the bottom of the form to make sure all files attached properly.

12. Click OK to submit. Repeat the full process for each course that you are providing or for additional files if necessary.
