SPAIN Women cook and prepare the meals. At first, the men don’t do anything but
then they helps the women. Differences: In Turkey there aren’t
songs. In Poland, the men kill carps and buy
the Christmas tree. Similarities: In all countries there are
Christmas tree, meals and presents.
GERMANY Women do the housework and look
after the children. Men have to buy Christmas tree and
they make a living for their family. Differences: In Turkey there aren’t
alcoholic drinks and they play games. In Italy, Spain, Turkey and Poland,
Santa Claus brings presents but in Germany it’s Christ Child.
TURKEY Women have to make coffee and
prepare wedding. Men pay all bills but he is controled by
the family. Differences: In Germany, Poland, Spain
and Italy people can decide by themselves if they want to married. In Turkey there is a red ribbon.
Similarities: Rings and meeting parents.
ITALY The women role is similar to spanish
one. Men only prepare meals in the
chimney. Differences: In 8th December, in other
countries people don’t start to prepare Christmas decoration. In Spain the Three Wise Men bring the gifts.
Similarities: The same of the other countries.
POLAND Women prepare everything for
Christmas. Men read the Bible and kill carps for
dinner. Differences: In Spain men don’t read the
Bible. In Germany people don’t eat fish at Christmas. In Turkey they don’t do the sign of the cross.
Similarities: In all of the countries people eat together at Christmas time.
Typical twelve dishes
