The competition is open to pianists who are at least 16 years on 19 February 2019 and no more than 30 years old on 24 February 2019.

In order to participate in the 9th Nordic Piano Competition applicants have to fulfill one of the following conditions:- Citizen or permanent resident of any of the Nordic countries: Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway or Denmark.- Citizen of any other country and currently studying at a music institution in any of the Nordic countries.- Full time Erasmus/Nordplus student (or any other official exchange program) in any of the Nordic countries.

Prof. Søren Rastogi - Assistant professor at Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and Associate professor at Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus.Dr. Nina Margret Grimsdottir - Artistic director at Reykjavik ClassicsDr. Niklas Pokki - Head of the Piano Department, SibeliusAcademy in Helsinki, Artistic director at Mäntta Music Festival.

REPERTOIREPrescreening video round - Deadline 15 October 2018.1. One movement from a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Clementi, Beethoven or Schubert.2. A free choice of virtuoso etude.

FIRST ROUND (MAX 20 MIN)1. Bach: One prelude and fugue from either volume of the Well Tempered Clavier.2. One movement of any sonata chosen from the following composers: Haydn, Mozart, Clementi, Beethoven or Schubert.3 Virtuoso etude by Chopin or Liszt.4. A free choice of virtuoso etude (not Chopin or Liszt).
