My family traditions part 1

We decorate and put up our tree on the first weekend of December, we usually get advent calendars. This year we got kinder ones.



On Christmas Eve, we always go to my aunt’s house we have dinner and then we open presents, sometimes all the guys watch hockey (if it’s on) and we do a secret Santa. (Adults Only) and we come home around 1:30 ish.



How I found out about ‘Santa’ I don’t remember how I found out but I

found out in grade 4. So I don’t believe in Santa anymore

On Christmas, we hang out at home and open presents. Then we eat breakfast and later, we go to my grandma’s later on and open presents. We have Christmas dinner at my Grandma’s house It is so good!!!



I don’t want to wreck the surprise for my little sister she’s 7 but she’s starting to question so I think when she’s 8 she’ll find out.

I and my sister have white stockings with snowflakes and our dog has a green one that says good doggie!!

We got our dog this year a penguin stuffed animal and doggie treats I think were going to get her a bone but I’m not sure. My sister wants EVERYTHING for Christmas

Portugal’s Christmas


During the Christmas day people visit there friends and family and have a big lunch. In Portugal, Christmas is celebrated with great fun and passion. During the holiday towns are decorated with lights. In the days leading to Christmas, the Christmas tree is set up and decorated with ornaments. Houses are decorated in a festive style to celebrate the occasion. In every Portuguese house, a piece of oak is kept burning on the fire place all through Christmas day. This wooden piece is known as the "Cepo de Natal" or the Christmas log. That I Found out about Christmas in Portugal.

What they eat in Portugal


In Portugal Santa Claus is called Pai Natal. The consoada is the family reunion near Christmas. During the consoada the dinner that is served is boiled codfish and Portuguese sprouts. For dessert everybody puts desserts on the table. The desserts usually served are rice pudding with cinnamon, rabandas, filhoses fried desserts, broas de Mel (pastries made with honey) “Sonhos” -pumpkin fritters Another very traditional desert is the "Bolo Rei" (King's cake) which is like a wreath and is a very rich fruit cake laced with fruits.

For food they eat plum pudding and over the years the recipe changed eggs, fruit, spice and lumps of meat were added. During the Christmas dinner they ate roast turkey and vegetables was served and for dessert was pudding with Brady sauce. The ONLY thing they would eat the day before Christmas was frumenty which is a type of pour age which was made of corn. Dinner was eaten midday while it was daylight.

One of England’s customs is murmuring, people that were middle ages dressed up as mummers and acted out Christmas plays. These plays are stilled performed today. In England Santa Claus is called Father Christmas, he wears a long red or green robe and kids opened there presents in the afternoon of Christmas.

England’s Christmas What they do and enjoy I found out in England that they enjoy listening to

Christmas music and hang up evergreen branches. In England they call the day after Christmas Boxing

day because the men like to go around and collect money in little clay boxes and when there full they break them open, Christmas in England began in AD 596. The celebrations begin usually at the end of September, In England they also elect boy Bishops in Remembrance of St. Nicholas.

Christmas Is……..


I think Christmas is about Giving, not receiving presents but giving and coming together as a family. Christmas is a time when family comes together on this festive holiday to celebrate the birthday of Jesus. On this holiday a magical figure (Santa Claus) comes to houses and deliver’s presents to good girls and boy’s . He rides in a sleigh pulled by 8 reindeer and slides down the chimney. This is what happens on Christmas. Family’s have a festive dinner on Christmas . Christmas is about people coming together and giving .

The History of Christmas


Christmas is the birthday of Jesus. Every year ancient Romans had a giant celebration in memory of there god Saturn, There

Celebration was called saturnalia, it started and the middle of December and lasted to the start of January. The first Christmas was called Nativity, soon presents and decorating came into style. Thus is part of the history of Christmas. The 3 wise men gave Jesus Frankincense and myrrh.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, barbecued vegetables and stuffing.

About the Author


I like Chow Chows, and my favorite color is purple and if could go anywhere in the world I would go to the Bahamas, because I’ve always wanted to go to Atlantis resort. My favorite food is sushi, and my favorite songs are soul sister by train, raise your glass by pink and firework by Katy Perry. I love to use laptops and my IPod touch. I have a little sister named Megan and I have a Dog Valdez and a bird Baxter and 2 fish (Edward and Jacob) , and a guinea pig named ruby. I also love to go camping. I love to go tubing and to ride my bike and I also love to watch the Ghost Whisperer and I love to draw and write stories and hang out with my friends, to go to the movies and I also absolutely LOVE Gymnastics!!! I can do the splits (both ways) , back bend’s, back walkovers , handstands and lots more I’m learning how to do a back handspring. I also love to swim, I was in the shark's swim club and I came in first for mostly every race and I got ribbons and medals too I Love Swimming and diving I also did syncro ( synchronized swimming), I also love to sing and I play flute and I'm learning the clarinet, I can also play the recorder and a tiny bit of piano. My style for clothes is Girly, Comfy, Goth and normal.
