How to interpret the Support Matrix:
General note:
-1- A configuration is fully supported when it is listed with no additional comments -2-
-3-
a.
b.
-4- If a configuration is not in the matrix, it is not supported for the following reason:a. We do not have knowledge of itb. We do not know enough about it to make a good estimate at this time
-5- A configuration is not supported when it contains “not supported” in the matrix’s comment column because of known issues.
Storage Essentials SRM Enterprise EditionSupport Matrix
Please assure you are referring to the latest published version of this matrix, it is made available via the Software Support Online (SSO) and Single Point of Configuration Knowledge (SPOCK) portals:Customers via SSO:http://support.openview.hp.com/sc/support_matrices.jspPartners via SPOCK External:http://h20272.www2.hp.com/Pages/spock2Html.aspx?htmlFile=sw_storage_essentials.htmlEmployees via SPOCK Internal:http://spock.corp.hp.com/spock/Pages.internal/spock2Html.aspx?htmlFile=sw_storage_essentials.internal.html
For all elements identified as "supported", the term is used to indicate product "compatibility" with this element. Support for that element (hardware, firmware, application, etc.) resides with the element originator.
A configuration is supported with caveats when it is listed with additional comments.(For example, field tested, partner tested, or specific configuration only) A configuration is conditionally supported when it is listed as "Conditional support based on vendor provided info. Not actually tested" because we believe that this configuration should work based on vendor provided information but has not been verified in lab or field. The following restriction applies to configuration with this designation.
We do not guarantee that this configuration will be supported(since no testing has been done or detailed test information cannot be verified)Please contact your software provider with additional information if you have actual results on compatibility for this configuration.

HBAs were tested with recent firmware and drivers, as of this writing. Contact your management server software representative for additional firmware and driver details.
HBA drivers used must be SNIA HBA API compliant.
We do not support multiple OEMs of HBAs in the same server.
Dual-ported HBAs differ in how they appear to the management server software and is dependent on how the vendor implements their API. Some dual-ported HBAs appear as two separate adapters.
Depending on the HBA Firmware and the api versions that are used to retrieve the information, SE may report the HBA type differently from what it actually is on the HBA.

It is "cluster aware" with the use of the Cluster Builder capability in which the user manually assigns a cluster node to a cluster name or cluster virtual IP address.
Where noted below, product supports "clustering" in which the product provides automatic agent-based and agentless cluster discovery.
There are 2 ways of supporting clusters:
1. "Cluster Builder" - with the use of the Cluster Builder capability , the user can manually assign a cluster node to a cluster (host) name or cluster virtual IP address. This is "Cluster Aware."
2. "Automatic Cluster Discovery" - by installing a CIM extension on a host, the product supports automatic cluster discovery (see table below for supported environments).
In both cases, cluster topology, capacity and properties are represented.

SP has provided a workaround to install spmgr.exe 4.7 version via SecurePathv4.0c SP2-1 that will replace the spmgr version on the host. This exe will look for a previous existence of Secure Path in the system and update the spmgr.exe to 4.7.0.0, if the existent spmgr.exe is lower than version 4.7.0.0.
Note: spmgr passwrd must be set in order for SE to discover Secure Path hosts. See Secure Path documentation on how to set the password.

Clusters Version Platform CommentMicrosoft Cluster Server x86, x64 and IA64
OS/SP Editions Filesystem CommentsFat,Fat32, NTFS Product will not support unmounted volumes and external Basic GPT partitions.

General Notes for Discovery of Hosts WITHOUT any CIM Extension:
The following platform/OS combinations are supported:- x86 platform and 32 bit OS- x64 platform and 32 bit OS- x64 platform and 64 bit OS- IA64 platform and (IA)64 bit OS <HP only>A Windows host can be discovered only using the management server running on a Windows operating system. Management server installed on a Linux or any other operating system cannot discover a windows host. Pls refer the HP Storage Essentials User guide for pre-requisites for AGENTLESS discovery of Windows hosts.- Local administrator privileges is needed for a user to discover Windows host.- By default, HBA information is not available for hosts running on Microsoft Windows 2003.- HP MPIO binaries should be specified in the system path, for gathering multipathing details. This is a known third party issue with HP MPIO.- Limited information related to Disk partitions and Disk drives are available, when the native volume manager volumes are spanned across multiple disks. - There is no support for reparse mount points.- Auto discovery of host cluster is not supported. However, discovery of manual cluster (built using Cluster Builder wizard ) is supported.Note: All the above mentioned limitations can be overcome by installing CIM extension on the windows host.
Only Password authentication method in SSH is supported. IPv6 Support: Windows 2008 & 2008 R2 based platform/OS versions configured with IPv6 address is supported.

MC Service Guard
Oracle Clusterware 10.2.0.4, 11.2.0.1 RHEL 5 U3 (x64)
Application Cluster Support
The product is cluster safe.
It is "cluster aware" with the use of the Cluster Builder capability in which the user manually assigns a cluster node to a cluster name or cluster virtual IP address.
Where noted below, product supports "clustering" in which the product provides automatic agent-based cluster discovery.
In both cases, cluster topology, capacity, properties, and events are represented.
MC Service Guard is Cluster Aware. Automatic discovery of cluster is not supported, Cluster Builder must be used.
HP StorageWorks Cluster Extension
HP StorageWorks Cluster Extension EVA Software only. Supported configurations are - MC Service Guard Linux Cluster
Automatic discovery of cluster is supported. Oracle RAC is supported on this cluster. Oracle Autoscan should be enabled or Oracle RAC configurations details should be entered in Application Setup page before running GAED on the cluster nodes for automatic discovery to complete. Refer to User Guides for more details.

Note: For OS's and File Systems supported by File System Viewer, refer to the associated OS tab in this matrix - the 32-bit/64-bit support details provided in the OS tab also pertains to File System Viewer.
File System Viewer requires roughly 80 MB per 1 million files scanned to store the file details, this may vary depending on the length of file names and any optional file attributes enabled for collection. This consumption applies to both the disk space locally on managed host performing the file collection task and the central management server to store the resulting data in compressed filedbs. In both cases the filedbs are overwritten when a subsequent scan is performed.
Solaris - UFS, VXFS/VXVM. Can follow mount points to scan NFS and CIFS file systems.
Properly factors capacity in clusters (does not double count capacity) provided the cluster is auto detected or has been defined manually through the use of Cluster Builder tool.
Licensing - Storage Essentials v9.5 (or later): 1 Application Viewer MAL per managed host (w/CIM Extension) enabled for FSV collection.
IPv6 Support: File System Viewer on IPv6 address based host/hostcluster is supported. For supported platform/OS combinations, please refer associated OS tab.

Application topology does not show files in a linked directory to a remote drive. Instead it shows the files as being local. For example, assume you install Oracle on a local disk and its default database locations are on that disk. Then, you create a symbolic link from the directory Oracle would use to create an instance to a drive in a mounted subsystem. When you create the Oracle instance, its files are put into the linked directory and onto the drive in the subsystem; however, application topology shows all files as being on a local disk. Application dependencies also do not list the remote devices.
Host logical volumes[vxvm/lvm] have mounted file system
Host logical volumes[vxvm/lvm] without any mounted file system
Real Disk partition being used for oracle[files/table space], without oracle asm
Aix does not allow creating partitions on Basic disks.Physical extents consumed on a disk by Volume Manager Volumes are merely represented as partitions to complete SE mapping.
Host logical volumes[vxvm/lvm] being used for Oracle [files/table space], without oracle asm
Real physical disk which has been Used as an Oracle asm disk
Here discovered does not necessarily mean that it is being used, it just means that asm can see the disk since the permission has been set for this disk. For eg for c0t0d0 if we set the permission to oracle:dba, then oracle asm can see the disk. It is a different thing whether it has been included in an asm disk group or not, which cannot be determined from the host providers.
Real physical partition which has been Used as an Oracle asm disk
Raw device which has been Used as an Oracle asm disk
For eg a raw device /dev/raw1 can be created from a real physical partition and subsequently /dev/raw1 can be discovered by asm
Real physical disk being used for oracle[files/table space], without oracle asm
