TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: These are science-based criteria

used to evaluate and improve the interactions between

operational processes and the environment (air, land, water,

animals, plants etc), which may be positive or negative in

nature. Meeting technical requirements is extremely driven by

the knowledge of Science and technical competencies of the

Environmental Professional (EP).

REQUIREMENTS When developing the EMS Manual, It is imperative to

understand the inter-relationships between the administrative

requirements and the technical requirements. That the ISO

14001 EMS Standard only identifies what is required of your

EMS and not the details of the requirements or how to conduct

certain E-assessments, which is dictated by the competencies

of the Environmental Professional (EP).

mentioned in this presentation. Some of the

additional barriers such as human errors, that are

not foreseeable and may hinder a successful

implementation of the EMS. Unforeseeable barriers

are dealt with as they arise.
