    FOREWORD

    Read This Manual Before Operation

    TRANSLATION OF THE ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS

    Reading this instruction manual is required before operating any of the machinery. Theassurance of smooth operation and full compliance of machine performance is strictlydependent on the rigorous application of all the instructions contained in this manual.

    Operator Qualifications

    The workers responsible for using this machine must have all necessary information,education and receive adequate training regarding safety, including:a) Conditions of use for the equipment;b) Foreseeable abnormal situations;pursuant to art. 73 of Legislative Decree no. 81/08.

    We guarantee the Machine's conformity to specifications and technical instructions

    described in the Manual on the date of issuance and listed herein; On the other hand,

    the machine may also be subject to important technical changes in the future, without

    the manual being updated.

    Therefore, contact FERVI for information about modifications that could be

    implemented.

    1 GENERAL INFORMATIONThis manual is considered an integral part of the machine to which it was attached at the timeof purchase.

    The manufacturer reserves the material and intellectual property rights of this publication andprohibits the disclosure and copying of any part herein without prior written consent.

    The purpose of this manual is to provide the knowledge necessary for the use andmaintenance of the Height-Adjustable Trolley, and create a sense of responsibility andknowledge of the capabilities and limitations of the device entrusted to the operator.

    Operators must be properly trained and prepared, so make sure that this manual is read andconsulted by the staff responsible for commissioning, operating and maintaining the machine.This is to make all operations the safest and most effective possible for those who carry outthese tasks. Therefore, it is imperative to strictly comply with the requirements in thismanual, a necessary condition for safe and satisfactory operation of the Trolley.

    Before starting operation, assembly and usage of the machine, authorized personnel musttherefore:

    carefully read this technical document;

    know what protections and safety devices are available on the Trolley, their locationand how they work.

    The buyer is responsible for ensuring that users are properly trained, that they are aware ofall the information and instructions in this document and that they are aware of the potentialrisks of operating the Trolley.

    The manufacturer declines all responsibility for any damage to people and/or thingscaused by non-observance of the instructions in this manual.

    Users will be held fully responsible for any changes they have made to the machine,so the manufacturer will not be held responsible for any damage caused to personsand/or property resulting from maintenance performed by unqualified personneland in a manner that differs from the operating procedures shown below.

    The Trolley was designed and built with mechanical guards and safety devices designed toprotect the operator/user from possible injury.

    It is strictly forbidden to modify or remove guards, safety devices and caution labels. If thismust be done (for example, for cleaning or repair), make sure that no one can use themachine.

    2 GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGSEven if you are already familiar with the Height-Adjustable Trolley, you must read thismanual carefully to acquire full knowledge of the machine and general precautions to beobserved during operation.

    Risks Associated with Using the Machine

    Despite the implementation of all safety devices for safe use of the machine, it is necessarytake note of all the requirements for the prevention of the accidents reported in various partsof this manual.

    Risks Associated with Using the Machine

    The machine must only be used by personnel who have been specially trained by authorizedpersonnel.

    Risks Associated with Using the Machine

    Every person who is responsible for the use and maintenance of the machine should have firstread the instruction manual, particularly the chapter on safety information.

    It is recommended that the plant safety manager get written confirmation of the above.

    Do not perform tasks on the machine other than those for which it was designed, thisparticularly refers to the size of the load being lifted.

    Do not use the trolley for improper lifting operations or loads, relative to its normal andexpected use.

    Take care to evenly distribute the weight on the platform of the trolley. Do not placethe load solely on the ends of the platform.

    While loading and unloading, block the wheels with the parking brake.

    Before moving the trolley (especially if loaded), lower the platform.

    Before lowering the platform, make sure that people remain at a safe distance fromwork area.

    Always Keep a safe distance from the trolley and the load being lifted.

    Do not leave the trolley unattended without locking the wheels with the parking brake.

    It is recommended that users of this publication, for maintenance and repair, have abasic knowledge of mechanical principles and procedures inherent in technical repair.

    Replace worn or damaged parts, check that the repairs and protection work correctlybefore operating.

    Management is responsible for safety and verification of the company's riskstatus according to Legislative Decree 81/08

    2.1 Technical SupportFor any problems or concerns, please contact, without hesitation, the Customer ServiceDepartment of the dealer from whom you purchased the product, who has competent andspecialised staff, specific equipment and spare parts.

    2.2 Other ProvisionsThe first thing to do when starting work is to check the presence and integrity of theprotections and the operation of the safety devices.

    If any defect is detected, do not use the Height-Adjustable Trolley.

    3 INTENDED USE AND DESCRIPTION OF THEMACHINE

    The Adjustable-Height Trolley, model 0075, is designed for handling stable loads or thosethat are arranged in containers, and for use on flat or polished floors (such as the floors inindustrial warehouses) that are appropriately hard and resistant (capable of supporting theweight of the Trolley plus its maximum nominal capacity).

    The operating temperature is within the range of –20 / +50°C.

    The working environment must also be sufficiently lit to ensure maximum operational safety(at least 50 lux are recommended).

    Other types of use, or the extension of use beyond that envisaged, does notcorrespond to the designation attributed by the manufacturer, and therefore thelatter cannot accept any responsibility for any damage resulting therefrom.

    The Trolley is formed by (see Figure 1) a steel carrying frame (6) on which the following isinstalled:

    a pantograph lift (8) and a load platform (9) operated by a hydraulic lifting cylinder(5);

    a steering bar (2) that drives the Trolley;

    a pair of swivel wheels (4) that correspond to the steering bar (2) and a pair of fixedwheels (7) on the opposite side.

    The swivel wheels (4) are equipped with mechanically operated safety parking brakes(service brakes), see Section 3.1 of this manual.

    On the upper part of trolley frame, on the steering bar (2), there is a control lever (1) thatlowers the platform (9). On the lower part of the trolley frame, below the steering bar (2),there is a pedal (3) for lifting the platform (9), see Section 8 of this manual: "USING THEMACHINE".

    3.2 SAFETY DEVICESThe primary safety device on the machines is the mechanical parking brake (see Figure 2).Each machine is equipped with two braking devices (one for each swivel wheel). They ensurethat the trolleys are secure against sudden and unwanted movements while parked andduring loading/unloading.

    Another safety device is the "skirting," or protective barrier installed on the lower part of thesteering bar (see Figure 3). This protects the feet from being crushed or cut while the loadplatform is being lowered.

    3.3 Identification Plate and PictogramsCE MARKING

    The machine's identification plate is attached to the frame (see Figure 4).

    NOMINAL MAXIMUM CAPACITY

    The identification plate indicates the nominal maximum capacity (300 kg), which the trolleycan lift under standard conditions, i.e. with the load evenly distributed on the platform.

    For a more detailed explanation about how to use and load the Trolley, refer to Chapter 8 ofthis manual, "USING THE MACHINE."

    The nominal maximum capacity value must never be exceeded!!

    3.4 PictogramsOn the sides of the lifting pantograph, there are caution and warning pictograms:

    4 IMPROPER USES AND PRECAUTIONSThe following actions, which obviously cannot cover the entire range of possible "misuse" ofthe machines are strictly forbidden.

    IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO:

    Lift and transport persons and/or animals that could fall;

    Lift and transport loads or lower the platform while other people are in the vicinity ofthe machine or are present in the manoeuvring area;

    Lifting loads weighing more than the nominal maximum capacity indicated on theidentification plate.

    Lift unbalanced loads and/or those with dimensions that exceed the set limits (on theloading platform);

    Lift loads that can change their static configuration, and/or their centre of gravity;

    Load/unload the trolley with the wheels unlocked;

    Load the platform at one end, only on one side or in a single place. The load must bepositioned as close as possible to the centre of the platform;

    Use the trolley on uneven surfaces and/or of insufficient strength to support the load(trolley and nominal maximum capacity);

    Use the trolley to move loads without lowering the platform completely;

    Use the trolley in applications where there exists the possibility of accidentalmovement;

    Leave the loaded trolley unattended with the wheels unlocked;

    Performing sudden manoeuvres with the loaded trolley;

    Allow untrained personnel to use the trolley

    Use the trolley when not psycho-physically fit to do so;

    Use the trolley without due care and attention;

    Use the trolley for purposes other than those for which it was designed;

    Use the trolley in unforeseen environmental conditions;

    Use the trolley in the event of insufficient lighting.

    5 TRANSPORTATION, LIFTING AND MOVINGLifting the trolley for transport can be done manually by at least two operators. To ensure thestability of the trolley during lifting, hold the two ends.

    The transport can be performed on industrial transportation vehicles such as trucks, lorriesetc..

    The trolley is equipped with wheels, so when moving it, make use of its directional andmovement capabilities.

    6 COMMISSIONING

    6.1 Instructions for Removing the PackagingThe cart is supplied in a cardboard box with the steering bar and lifting pedal unassembled(see Figure 5). Before disposing of the packing, make sure that none of the machine's parts(for example, the fastening screws for the steering bar or pedal), the owner's manual or anyother documentation are being throw away.

    6.2 Assembly of the machineTo assemble the trolley, proceed as follows:

    1. Insert the steering bar (A) into thefastening holes on the frame of thetrolley (see Figure 6).

    1. Insert the fastening screws into thebase of the steering bar (C) (see thearrow in Figure 6) and tighten until thesteering bar is tightly locked to thetrolley frame.

    2. Insert the pedal (B) into the pump'sactivation lever (see Figure 7).

    3. Position the hole on the pedal so it lines up with the one on the lever bracket and insertthe pedal fastening bolt (D).

    4. Tighten the bolt (D) to lock the pedal to the pump's activation lever bracket.

    5. Verify the correct operation of the trolley by performing several complete cycles ofoperation. To do this, raise the platform by pressing the lift pedal, then pull thelowering lever to lower the platform (see Chapter 8 of this manual, "USING THEMACHINE ) .

    Lowering Valve Adjustment

    If, once the process of assembling the steering bar and pedal is complete, the trolley platformwill not raise and/or lower correctly, adjust the lowering valve in accordance with the followingguidelines.

    6. To adjust the lowering valve, turn the regulator screws/nuts on the lowering lever (seeFigure 8) and in correspondence of the lifting cylinder (see Figure 9). Adjust theposition until optimum operation of the trolley is obtained, i.e.:

    The platform is lifted when the lift pedal is pushed and the lowering lever staysin the rest position;

    The platform stays in the same position if both commands are kept in the restposition;

    The platform is lowered when the lowering lever is pulled and the lift pedalremains in the rest position.

    7 USING THE MACHINE

    Manually Moving Loads

    There is a risk of abrasion and crushing hands and feet while manually moving heavy loadsresulting from mishandling. The assigned workers must be equipped with the normal accidentprevention equipment, and in particular gloves and safety shoes.

    The control lever is located on the trolley's steering bar, which controls the downwardmovement and has two positions (as indicated in Figure 10): NEUTRAL (N): NO MOTION/LIFT;

    UP (D): LOWERING.

    Neutral position (N): No motion/Lift;

    If you do not activate any other command, the loading platform will not move and willremain in the rest position.

    Pressing down on the lifting pedal triggers the pump and lifts the loading platform up.

    Up position (D): Lowering.

    By pulling the lever up, the platform and load are lowered. The speed of descent iscontrolled by a special valve in function of the operating force of the lever itself. Themaximum speed of descent is when the lever is decisively pulled all the way (withoutapplying gradual force).

    The control lever is located at the bottom of the trolley's steering bar, which controls theupward movement and has two positions (as indicated in Figure 11): NEUTRAL (N): NO MOVEMENT;

    DOWN (A): LIFTING.

    If you do not activate any other command, the loading platform will not move and willremain in the rest position.

    Down position (A): Lifting.

    Pushing down on the pedal will lift the platform and the load.

    7.1 Lifting a Load

    Lifting loads

    DO NOT lift and transport people and/or animals.

    DO NOT Lift and transport loads or lower the platform while other people are in thevicinity of the machine or are present in the manoeuvring area.

    DO NOT lift loads weighing more than the nominal maximum capacity indicated on theidentification plate.

    DO NOT Lift unbalanced loads and/or those with dimensions that exceed the set limits(on the loading platform).

    DO NOT Load the platform at one end, only on one side or in a single place. The loadMUST be positioned as close as possible to the centre of the platform.

    Make sure the lowering lever is in neutral position (N, see Figure 10);

    Raise the platform by using a pumping motion on the lift pedal (A, see Figure 11) until thedesired height is reached (Figure 12).

    7.2 Lifting the load

    Tipping and/or overturning

    Manually moving heavy loads involves a risk of tipping / overturning resulting frommovements carried out quickly and without paying due attention. The assigned workers must,therefore, perform the manoeuvres of displacing the trolley, especially on a curve, at lowspeed and with extreme caution.

    Tipping and/or overturning

    DO NOT use the trolley to move loads without lowering the platform completely.

    DO NOT use the trolley in applications where there exists the possibility of accidentalmovement.

    DO NOT use the trolley on uneven surfaces and/or of insufficient strength to supportthe load (trolley and nominal maximum capacity).

    Make sure the lowering lever is in the neutral position (N, see Figure 10);

    Pull / push the steering bar until the wheels on the trolley rotate;

    Manoeuvre and move the trolley until it reaches the desired position.

    7.3 Lowering a Load

    Lowering loads

    DO NOT lower the platform while other people are in the vicinity of the machine or are presentin the manoeuvring area.

    Lowering loads

    Keep hands and feet away from the trolley - particularly the arms of the scissor lift - beforelowering the platform.

    Move the lowering lever to position D (up, see Figure 10) and wait for the platform andthe load to lower (Figure 13).

    7.4 How to Lock the Trolley

    Locking the trolley

    DO NOT load/unload the trolley with the wheels unlocked.

    DO NOT use the trolley in applications where there exists the possibility of accidentalmovement.

    DO NOT leave the loaded trolley unattended with the wheels unlocked.

    To lock the trolley, press, with the sole of the foot, the brakepedal on the opposite side of the bracket (see Figure 14).The braking action is due to the pressure that the bracketexerts on the tread of the wheel.

    Lock both swivel wheels on the trolley, pressing both locking brake pedals.

    To unlock the trolley, press, with the sole of the foot, thebrake pedal on the side of the bracket (see Figure 15).

    8 MAINTENANCEThe purpose of this section is to provide all the information on maintenance proceduresand frequency that the Trolley requires.

    Maintenance and repairs must be performed by qualified personnel.

    8.1 Routine Maintenance

    1. General Visual Inspection: check the condition of the machine, if there are anydamaged or missing parts. In particular, check the state of wear on the bearing surfaceof the platform and of the levers that make up the scissor lift system.

    2. Checking the legibility of the plates: the plates and pictograms on the machine,must be perfectly legible, it is therefore necessary to keep them clean and ask for areplacement from the person responsible for maintenance if they are illegible.

    3. Verifying the absence of leaks in the hydraulic circuit: no measurable accidentalloss must be admitted in the hydraulic circuit, except slight moistening that is notsufficient to form a drop.

    4. General Cleaning: cleaning is necessary to free the structure and movable parts fromthe accumulation of dust, dirt and stains caused by excess lubricant. Cleaning shouldbe done with the use of means, equipment and detergents or solvents commonly usedin the cleaning of industrial equipment.

    5. State and Cleaning of the Wheels: periodically check that the wheels are not wornand that they run freely over the bar bolts. For example: thread, twine, dirt can affectnormal rotation and is therefore removed.fer

    6. Lubrication and greasing: it is necessary to lubricate the moving parts of the trolley,namely:

    the pivots and bearings of the wheels (see Figure 16);

    the pins and guides of the levers for the pantograph lifting system that regulatesthe lifting of the platform ( see Figures 17, 18 and 19 );

    the pins and hinges of the pumping system.

    7. Check the efficiency of the brakes: check the general state of the brake brackets onthe trolley's parking brakes, and for the presence of any damaged or missing parts. Inparticular, check the state of wear on the brackets themselves and the tread of thewheels. The trolley must remain braked on a surface with a 5% incline.

    9 TROUBLESHOOTINGThe following table shows the type of defect / problem, possible causes, and possibleremedies for the malfunction. The table is a useful aid for the maintenance technician whenfinding faults with the machine.

    The platform doesnot rise under theaction of the pedal.

    The lowering lever is activated(in the up position).

    Release the lowering lever.

    There is no oil in the cylinder.Fill with hydraulic oil while keepingthe platform completely lowered.

    10 DECOMMISSIONING

    10.1Shutting Down the MachineThe trolley does not require specific conservation treatments when unused for long periods.Just make sure that it is kept away from the elements.

    10.2Dismantling and Disposal of Parts and MaterialsIf the machine is to be scrapped, its parts must be disposed of separately.

    Respect the Environment!!

    Contact a specialist centre for the collection of metallic materials.

    The structure of the Trolley is made of steel; some seals, and parts ofthe wheels are made of polymeric material. The pump contains hydraulicoil. In this regard, divide the materials according to their nature,employing specialist companies which are authorised for their disposal,in accordance with the requirements of law.
