2012 THE DIP
Studio OxL transforms a butchers shop in the fashion district of Arnhem into a work house.
The Sint Martenshof project is a redevelopment by a group of private clients. For one Studio OxL designed a house in a former butchers shop. Besides space for living, the house contains working space and can be used for exhibitions and gatherings.
The former window of the butchers shop has been brought back to its old glory and gives a nice view into the kitchen and the inner garden. The ground floor is fully dedicated to the kitchen, a place to wine and dine and to get together with family and friends.
The first floor curls itself to form a cozy conversation pit and a bookcase. This creates the form of the ceiling of the ground floor. The attic is private and houses the sleeping rooms and bathrooms.
Most of the materials used for the realization of the interior shall be recycled, they will be sourced out of local demolition waste to create a cycle. Because of the use of these locally recycled materials we can control the budget and the city recreates itself.
