http://anesthesiology.duke.edu 1 New Module for HIPAA Compliance A new, annual training module, “HIPAA Privacy & Security Training,” is now required for all members of the Duke Medicine workforce (employees, volunteers and students) and is due by March 1, 2009. The training module is an annual, mandatory training for all of Duke Medicine’s workforce. New employees are required to complete the training within their first week of hire. Current employees must complete the module by March 1. If current employees do not complete the module, they will receive a reminder e-mail, and the module will be noted as overdue. To provide more specific training related to an individual’s job responsibilities, there will be four versions of the module: 1. A module for clinicians who conduct research 2. A module for clinicians who do not conduct research 3. A module for non-clinicians who conduct research 4. A module for non-clinicians who do not conduct research Individuals only need to complete ONE of the four modules to receive credit for HIPAA Privacy & Security Training. New Wireless Network at Duke Ken Childs Beginning February 1st, the dumcwlan wireless network will cease to exist, and all laptops connecting to the medical center wireless network will need to be connected through the Diamonds network. With this in mind, any Anesthesiology laptops that currently connect to the domain (DHE) will automatically receive these new settings beginning this coming Monday (January 19th).
