.3 The Contractor is responsible for providing electrical power, until the earlier of, Contract
Completion, or when permanent power is available and cabling
is
in
place .
.4 Upon Contract Completion, remove electrical plant from the Site, except the distribution ·
system and hydro service equipment required to keep the lighting in operation .
.5 Where temporary lighting system
is
not removed submit all as-built and record drawings
in
accordance with Section 01 33

3.2 Contractor s Temporary Water Usage:
.1 Supply and install a temporary water meter at all connections to existing water supply
piping. All cost for equipment, piping and water consumed shall be the responsibility o the
Contractor

connections shall be made

existing taps, hose bibs or faucets.
3.3 Temporary Water Shutdown:
.1 If in the performance of Work, it is necessary to shut off the water supply either completely
or partially
in
an existing facility, Contractor shall inspect and operate in the presence o the
Commission s Representative all plumbing fixtures affected by the shut off to ensure their
proper operation.
3.4 Temporary Heating:
.1
Provide temporary heating required during construction period, including attendance,
maintenance and fuel.
.2
Temporary fuel fired heating devices to meet OHSA requirements .

Contractor s Drainage System:
Supply, install and maintain a temporary drainage system o sufficient capacity and
efficiency to maintain excavations free o water during the construction period. Submit a
Plan and install plant as required to safeguard the Site and downstream sites from flooding
in
the event
o
a weather related event and/or utility breaks.
Do
not use any portion o the
permanent drainage system without the permission o the Commission s Representative.
Remove the temporary system upon Contract Completion, unless otherwise indicated on
the Contract Drawings as to
be
handed over to others in good working order at an interface.
Accommodation for Workers:
Supply, install
and
maintain
in
a clean condition suitable and convenient water closet and
drinking water accommodation for Workers
in
accordance with the Occupational Health and
Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects. Remove accommodations upon
Contract Completion.
Temporary Utility Support:
Inspect and assume ownership
of
maintaining and repairing all components
of
support system for utilities including temporary bridge structure in accordance with
Section 02 4113
POWER WASHING AND VIDEOTAPING OF SANITARY AND STORM DRAINAGE

5.2 Protection of Existing Equipment:

All existing (in use) and new equipment damaged while carrying out the Work shall be
restored with new Products matching the original equipment.
5.3 Fire Protection:

Take precautions to prevent fires. Provide

maintain temporary fire protection
equipment o a type appropriate to the hazard anticipated in accordance with authorities
having jurisdiction, governing codes, regulations, by-Jaws and to the satisfaction of the
Commission s Representative and insurance authorities
.2 Supply and install heat detectors, wiring and end
o
line resistors on the construction side
o
any hoarding
and
dust-tight partitions. The number of heat detectors shall
be
as required
by the code. Interconnect the heat detectors and the end o the line resistors to the existing
fire alarm panel
in
each station. After the Work
is
completed, remove the heat detectors,
end
of line resistors
and
its wiring. Install heat detectors in accordance with
CAN/ULC S524-M .
.3 Bulk storage of flammable liquids
and
other hazardous materials is not allowed on Site.

5.4 Protection of Workers:

Workers shall comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for
Construction Projects

5.5 Protection o Finished Structures Adjacent to Work Areas:

The Contractor shall provide a Storm

Site Water Management Plan (SSWMP) for the
construction Work area. The Plan shall address measures to minimize or manage water
that would enter the excavation and/or partially completed subsurface works and tunnels
as
a result of weather related events or interruption and/or damage to utilities. The submittal
will include sealed
engineering documents that includes plans showing construction staging
and
sequences, plant to be provided
and
supporting analysis.

7 PROJECT IDENTIFICATION

7 1 The display of signs without the Commission s Representative s written consent is
forbidden.
7.2 Supply and install four (4) signs, each 1980 mm W x 2285 mm H x 20 mm D overlaid
Crezon plywood, mounted approximately 2.5 m above ground on hoarding or separate
posts as appropriate
in
locations as directed by the Commission s Representative. The
Commission shall provide the graphics for signage
in
electronic format.
7.3 Supply and install sufficient posts and braces
o
pressure treated wood with galvanized
nails
and screws to withstand wind and other loads.
7.4 Relocate the signs from time to time if required to expedite the Work
or
to ensure that the
signs remain visible. Refer to Contract Drawings or as directed by the Commission s
Representative for details required on the signs.
7.5 Remove signs upon Contract Completion.
SITE MAINTENANCE
8 1
Maintain the Site and adjacent areas
in
a clean and orderly condition, free from debris and
other objectionable matter. Remove rubbish and surplus material, equipment and
structures immediately. If the Site
is
not cleaned within forty-eight (48) hours after the
Contractor has been instructed
to
do so, the Commission s Representative may clean the
Site and retain the cost from monies due, or to become due, to the Contractor.

PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND SAFETY
9 1 Maintain sidewalks and paved areas at and adjacent to the Site in a safe condition
throughout the Contract. Promptly remove ice and snow.

10.3 Take precautions

avoid tracking
and
depositing materials, debris and
mud
on roads and
on the Commission s property from vehicles and equipment operating to and from the
construction Site and
be
responsible for removal of such deposits by brooming and
washing to the satisfaction of the Commission s Representative.
10.4 Keep access routes, sidewalks, Site roads, trailer area, storage areas as well as Work
areas free of ice and snow to maintain safe operating conditions and to maintain progress
of the Work. Remove cleared snow from the Site within twelve (12) hours of a snow fall or
as directed by the Commission s Representative.
11
PARKING
11.1 No cars or trucks shall be parked on the Commission s property without the approval
of
the
Commission s Representative. The Commission shall not
be
held responsible for damage
that may occur to any vehicle operated upon or parked upon Commission property.
11.2 Parking will be permitted on Site provided it does not disrupt the performance of Work, Site
safety or the movement of vehicular or pedestrian traffic and is acceptable to the
Commission s Representative.
11.3 Provide thirty (30) parking stalls and two (2) Handicapped stall complete with reserved
signs within 20 m
of
the Commission s Representative s site office for the exclusive use of
the Commission s Representatives.
12
SITE VISITORS
12.1 During the progress of the Work, afford access to visitors duly authorized by the
Commission s Representative and facilitate inspections or testing which they may wish to
carry out.
